Dr Cohen's office staff has considerably improved their etiquette with patients. I found them interested, kind, and friendlier than eight months ago, when I last visited for an exam. The practice has grown, and I am glad to see thShow moreat there has been some training or acknowledgement that patient services is just as important as the clinical encounter. On that note, Dr. Cohen appeared more joyous and centered for a late afternoon appointment than usual. Service and patient bedside manners have improved, and for that I am grateful. Dr. Cohen was principal in 'saving my life' from an atrial blockage --"widow-maker"-- a decade ago, so he has always been in my consideration. But am glad the practice overall has improved its patient services! NOW GET ON MY CHART PORTABLE MR SYSTEM SO OUR JOY IS COMPLETE! No sense staying out of touch with EMR sharing while all else is already there!
I have no complaint about the technical aspects of Dr Cohen's care. I am convinced of his full knowledge of his specialty. My only concern - and this not minor - is that he always seems to be in a hurry when he sees me. I don'tShow more seem to have his full attention when I am speaking to him. He seems to be more concerned with getting in and out quickly than giving me his full attention when I am speaking to him. I feel this about no other health care professional that I am currently seeing. One time in the middle of my speaking to him, he started speaking to his assistant. I mentioned his tendancy to speed through his visits to him one time. He said that his care is better than 99% of doctors. (Oh, really!)
Stephen A. Cohen, MD, FACC, is an invasive cardiologist who specializes in pacemaker implantation and lipid management, with a special interest in nuclear cardiology. He currently sees patients at Cardiology Specialists of Orange County in Santa Ana, Irvine, and Newport Beach, California.
Dr. Cohen graduated with his medical degree from the University of Witwatersrand Medical School in Johannesburg, South Africa. Dr Cohen is an excellent cardiologist. I have no negative comments about him. However, the office staff at the Santa Ana office need improvement. It is extremely difficult to reach the Santa Ana office via telephone. I frequently need to report an INR reading. It is always a headache get someone to answer the phone. There is frequently a message that they are busy or the answering service is activated during the day. When someone does answer the phone I’m am immediately put on hold before I can say anything, sometimes for as long as 10 minutes.
The provider seemed to be rushed. I was only able to ask a couple questions. I was given very simple answer when I wanted to learn more about my abnormal results.
