Dr. Mickel is the best all around for many reasons. He's a perfectionist ...He's straight forward while also being kind, considerateand personal. Timothy Mickel, MD, FACS, is a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon at Mickel Plastic Surgery. Dr. Mickel offers the best plastic surgery and nonsurgical cosmetic treatments in North Louisiana at the Monroe, Louisiana, office.
A third-generation Monroyan, he was born at St. Francis Hospital, raised in the Garden District, and graduated from Neville High School. He attended Vanderbilt University, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
Dr Mickel received his medical degree from Lousiana State University (LSU) School of Medicine in New Orleans and was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.
He completed a full five-year general surgery residency program at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, one of the country's most intellectually rigorous and physically demanding surgery programs, and earned board certification in general surgery.
Dr. Mickel completed his plastic surgery training at Parkland/UT Southwestern Medical Center and is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
As a plastic surgery resident, Dr. Mickel’s research on frontal sinus fractures won national acclaim, including the prestigious Snyder Award, given to the plastic surgery resident who presents the best paper at the annual meeting of the Plastic Surgery Research Council.
Dr. Mickel returned to his hometown in 1990 to begin a practice in plastic and reconstructive surgery. Having received training in Dallas from some of the recognized masters in the field, his approach was initially broad and encompassed all areas of plastic surgery.
Over the decades, Dr. Mickel has focused on cosmetic surgery, breast cancer reconstruction, and cleft lip and palate repair.
He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Southeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the American Cleft Palate Association. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has published several scientific articles and has presented at national meetings.
Dr. Mickel married his wife, Stephanie, a fellow Vanderbilt grad, in 1982. They have five children, and he and his wife are active in community affairs.

Everyone involved was so kind and helpful. Everything was explained in full, and no question went unanswered. Dr. Mickel and his staff made it a point to make sure we were on the same page with intended results. Everything came out wonderfully, and I can't believe how gentle they were! I'm not nearly in the pain I'd expected (I'm also following their aftercare to the letter!!) Any surgery will come with swelling, but just be patient and give your body time! :)

I was impressed with Dr. Mickel’s bedside manner. He spoke calmly and professionally to me while giving me several options for what I needed. Rather than taking my money and doing a surgery that I did not need, he gave his honest opinion and even provided phone numbers of people outside his office who could help me with my needs. I will definitely recommend him to people in the future.
