I've been dealing with DJD in my lower back for years. The pain has worsened over the past year and a half. I haven't been able to work for a year as my job requires me to sit. Doctors dismissed me and told me what my pain leveShow morel should be instead of listening to me and looking at me. Dr. Malia listened and looked at me. He showed compassion and empathy for what I've been through. He explained his plan of treatment for me. He saw that I was anxious and made plans to ensure I would be comfortable for the procedure. He did what no other doctor would do. He treated a patient with the understanding that everyone is different and is affected differently. I am grateful for being referred to Dr. Malia.
I have Dr. Van Malia, MD to thank for the relief of cervical radiculopathy pain and years of chronic pain from degenerative spine disease, spondylitis, scoliosis, and muscle spasms. I’ve been symptom free for 2 1/2 years since recShow moreeiving RF nerve ablation in 2020. Prior to this my arms and hands were immobilized by neuralgia and pain from bilateral compression of 4 nerve roots in my C-spine. After years of referrals to multiple specialists, Dr. Malia was the first provider that knew exactly what to do. His evaluation and prognosis assisted at least two other MDs to treat and eliminate other musculoskeletal problems I was having, including carpal tunnel syndrome. Van Malia, DO, is one of the gifted and compassionate pain management and rehabilitation specialists practicing at Advanced Pain Management in Evans, Georgia. He treats all patients with dignity and respect and offers personalized treatments to reduce their pain.
Dr. Malia earned his Doctor of Osteopathy degree at the Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Iowa. Moving to Columbus, Ohio, during his clinical years in medical school, he rotated through the Ohio State University Medical Center and Ohio University and OhioHealth hospitals.
Dr. Malia continued his studies by specializing in neurology and anesthesiology before settling on physical medicine and rehabilitation. During his physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, he was able to combine his passions for osteopathic medicine, neurology, and interventional pain management with physical medicine to help patients restore their mobility and quality of life.
With the goal of enhancing his skills in interventional pain management and the imaging and diagnosis of spinal and orthopedic issues, Dr. Malia also completed a prestigious spine and pain fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic
As the son of a Vietnam War veteran and the grandson of a World War II veteran, Dr. Malia has a particular passion for helping veterans recover from injuries and manage pain. He has worked with many Iraq and Afghanistan veterans.

If I could leave more stars I would. Dr. Van Malia is the Best, I was referred to him by a ER Doc at Doctor's Hospital. And he has been doing wonders for my back pain. Great experience, and he makes you feel so comfortable.

Things have been fine up until my appointment yesterday on the phone. I never received one but my prescription was filled.

Dr. Malia was very easy to communicate with. When I explained my symptoms, he knew from personal experience what I was describing. I felt very comfortable with him and I felt heard. He listened well and answered all of my questions. He also explained well what issues I have and possible remedies. I felt like someone was actually listening to me and it greatly improved my confidence in my medical care. The staff is also kind and caring.

What do I like about Dr.Malai one I trust him two he listen three everything he has done has helped me. I’ve experienced faster results with him and his staff than anyone I’ve seen before. He’s kind and he explains things that I can understand.
I love this Office and Doctor Van Malia. I have nerve damage and Osterporsis Arthritis and if the truth be told, I wouldn't be able to get around if it wasn't for the treatments. I wish I knew about him year earlier so I could have been pain free earlier. I still have some pain, but it's nothing like it was.
