About Van Nguyen, PA-C

Van is a board-certified Physician Assistant specializing in orthopedic medicine. He earned his Bachelor Degree of Science and PA certification on an academic scholarship from Howard University in Washington, DC. Upon completion of PA school, Van was immediately offered a position to work with elite athletes at Metro Orthopedics & Sports Therapy with Dr. James Gilbert. His clinical experience ranges from non-surgical to surgical management of a wide variety of musculoskeletal injuries and overuse conditions. His goal is to offer his patients the most unbiased, individualized, and comprehensive treatment plan so they can stay active and pain-free.

He utilizes specialize imaging techniques to accurately diagnose, and treat a multitude of sport-related injuries. His special interest lies in regenerative medicine such as Prolotherapy, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), and stem cell therapy. Using these cutting-edge therapies, he is able to customize a treatment plan to meet each individual patients’ goals.

He has been a member of the Washington Spirit Professional Women soccer team medical staff for the past 3 years. He evaluates and treats all acute and chronic sports injuries, as well as orchestrating pre- and postoperative care for injured athletes and weekend warriors.

In his free time, he plays both flag football and soccer year-round and enjoys snowboarding, weight training, and yoga in the winter. As an athlete himself, he fully empathizes with patient since he understands the physical and mental pain that a patient goes through when it comes to injuries. It is through these athletic activities that Mr. Nguyen came to appreciate the practice of sports medicine.
