As a licensed clinical social worker and therapist, I have dedicated my career to helping individuals cope with a variety of mental health challenges. My approach to therapy uses a variety of techniques and modalities to individualize treatment to each client’s unique needs. Whether it’s supportive therapy, mindfulness-based therapy or other forms of psychotherapy, I work collaboratively with each client to develop a plan that will help achieve his or her goals and be their best self. In addition to my work as a therapist, I strive to continue my ongoing professional development by staying current with the latest research and best practices in the field. Helping others is something I am very passionate about and I wholeheartedly believe that every person has the potential to achieve great things.

I have worked in the mental health field for the past 13 years in outpatient, inpatient, and residential settings. I am committed to providing holistic and culturally competent individualized care that embodies the client's developmental and bio-psycho-social histories in my treatment approach. I have experience working with individuals ages 5 to 65 and older adults struggling with depression and mood disorders, anxiety disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders such as Autism and ADHD, eating disorders, trauma, behavior problems, and other co-occurring mental disorders. I have an extensive history of providing mental health services in all levels of care, including inpatient treatment, residential care, intensive outpatient services, community-based treatment, forensic cases and private practice. Debora Ellis is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner who treats a broad range of mental illnesses in patients of all ages. Her areas of interest include personality disorders, PTSD, psychotic disorders, mood disorders, eating disorders, and addictions.
Dr. Ellis’ philosophy of patient care is based on establishing a collaborative, therapeutic relationship with the patient that is founded on effective communication and honesty. “I believe the roots of a patient’s current symptoms are often found in the past. In order to access the past you have to develop an honest and trusting therapeutic relationship with the patient in the present moment,” she says. “It is important, as a provider, to employ empathic listening and to involve the patient in decisions regarding their care.”
Dr. Ellis completed her Doctorate of Nursing Practice, Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner degree at Rush University in Chicago.
