He has an interest in neuromodulation and has been involved in TMS clinical trials as well as basic research in ketamine effects on neurons. He completed the Tufts Medical Scientist Training Program where he received his medical doctorate as well as a Ph.D. in Cell, Molecular, and Developmental Biology. His Ph.D. involved recreating the human neuromuscular junction with multiple cell types in 3D bio-fabricated structures in the lab. Timothy M. Veal, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist with extensive experience working with diverse patient populations across various backgrounds and genders in both military and civilian settings. Dr. Veal earned his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine and completed his psychiatry residency at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego. His military career includes serving as the sole psychiatrist at the United States Naval Hospital in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and deploying to Southeast Asia, where he engaged in subject matter exchanges on mental health issues related to humanitarian relief and disaster preparedness. He has also served on various committees promoting healthcare ethics and provider wellness.
Transitioning to civilian practice, Dr. Veal continued his mission to deliver high-quality mental health care by collaborating with various hospital and insurance-based entities. He values collaboration and has closely worked with nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants (PAs) to improve patient care. Additionally, Dr. Veal has provided consultancy roles for startups developing applications for multidisciplinary healthcare management platforms geared towards professional athletes, further expanding his impact on patient care.
