Mark Sylvester, MD, was born and raised in Sarasota, Florida. He is board certified in Psychiatry & Neurology and completed his fellowship in Integrative Psychiatry. In addition to caring for his patients with Alternative Psychiatry, where he practices Functional Psychiatry and Integrative Health, he also currently serves as medical director of Centerpointe Counseling and Recovery, Sarasota Addiction Specialists, and the Suncoast Harm Reduction Project aimed at reducing opioid related overdose deaths. He also founded Mind Body Medicine of Florida, a comprehensive and integrative health practice. He has previously worked inpatient at the Serenity Place of Doctor’s Hospital in Sarasota as well as an adjunct faculty member at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) where he lectured and clinically trained medical students. He is active in research and is published in the Journal of Biomechanics, Journal of Global Drug Policy, and American Journal of Psychiatry.

For almost 30 years, Alecia has been working in Mental Health and Psychiatry. She has a unique perspective for treating patients due to her diverse professional experiences. She completed her undergrad education in 1993 at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania. She worked in a variety programs in the community, in schools and in the hospital setting providing supportive counseling, group therapy, education and case management services. In 2012, she obtained her Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies at South University in Tampa, FL. She has worked in community behavioral health and addictions in both the outpatient clinic as well as the inpatient hospital setting. She is a preceptor for South University and trains upcoming Physician Assistants in Psychiatry. She was named preceptor of the year in the 2020 by South University. As a Physician Assistant, she practices adult general psychiatry under the supervision of a board certified psychiatrist.
