Bio

I received my Bachelor’s and Master’s from Grand Canyon University. I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. My approach is rooted in a person-centered and evidence-based framework. I utilize various therapeutic approaches, including Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Crisis Intervention, Trauma Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

I have experience providing individual counseling services to adolescents ages 12–18 and adults, supporting clients as they navigate trauma, grief, and emotional challenges. I have also worked with families experiencing divorce and adjusting to blended family dynamics. I support family members in creating healthy ways to cope, building connections, and improving communication.

I am passionate about helping people become their most authentic and empowered selves. My approach focuses on creating strong, trusting therapeutic relationships in a safe, compassionate setting as real transformation begins with connection. I believe that prioritizing mental health is essential to overall well-being. I am committed to walking alongside clients as they develop insight, resilience, and the tools needed to thrive in their daily lives.

About Mohamad Bahnassi, MD
Amjad Bahnassi quite literally could not have gotten out of Syria any sooner. Born and raised in the capital of Damascus, Bahnassi graduated high school at 16 and finished medical school at 22. The day after graduation, he left. "I was ready," he said. Bahnassi came to Worcester in the early 1980s for a residency program at UMass Medical Center as a psychiatrist and never left. After completing his residency, he started Behavioral Healthcare Services, a practice he still leads after more than 25 years.
