This gives her an idea of your basic metabolic state, such as glucose, lipids, red blood cell and white blood cell counts, autoimmune markers, vitamin D, thyroid levels, and other hormones. She commonly evaluates food allergies as well, since they can be the underlying cause of many illnesses. After analyzing all of your results, Dr. Scanlan creates an individual treatment plan based on your unique needs.

About
Ms. Lien
I am originally from Taiwan. I moved to the USA in 2021. I received a Bachelor of Medicine degree in China. My background includes five years of medical training at the prestigious Xiamen University in China, majoring in acupuncture and herbal medicine. The program consists of four years of intensive training and one year of in-hospital rotation in major medical departments, including general surgery, orthopedics, obstetrics, neurology, cardiology, internal medicine, and pediatrics combining modern medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
In my first year as an undergraduate, I sprained my ankle severely. One of the college professors had noticed my injury. She was one of the professors of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. I knew nothing about Traditional Chinese Medicine at that time. She took out some needles and did an acupuncture treatment on me. The treatment was painless. I was so surprised by the professor’s treatment. I knew from my injury that it would typically take 4 weeks minimum to heal. But in just 30 mins, I felt better, and within a short period of time, I could move my ankle, weigh bare on it and have far less pain. After that, I became attracted to acupuncture and herb supplements. It intrigued me. I was fascinated by this procedure. After researching Oriental Medicine and mentoring with the professor, it was a turning point for me. Oriental medicine was to be my lifetime career.
After completing my Master of Science Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, I moved to Macau, where I co-owned a clinic. I treated patients with complex acute and chronic pain conditions, sprains, strains, migraines and headaches, insomnia, arthritis, digestive issues, and cosmetic acupuncture. But my specialties were infertility, female health care, and pregnancy, post-cancer care, and neurological issues, including but not limited to Bell’s palsy, Stroke, and Trigeminal Neuralgia.
In addition to my own practice, I worked for many years as an Oriental Medicine Doctor at a large Cancer and Tumor Organization in Taiwan, taking care of post-cancer patients. For many cancer patients, the most important part of treatment is maintaining the best possible quality of life. People lose most of their energy after chemo and radiation therapy. TCM can help bring their energy back and relieve a lot of their suffering from all the side efforts of cancer and/or the medicine.
Currently, I am in Burien, where I aim to establish a clinic and contribute to the health and well-being of the community. I believe that my experience in Taiwan supersedes what some practitioners learn here in the States. I am passionate about helping others live their best life.
