About
Dr. Duvnjak
Dr. Andrea Duvnjak is a licensed Naturopathic Physician with a focus in Functional Medicine. She has spent over 12 years in the medical field working in various settings and with a variety of specialties ranging from family practice to hospital care to pediatric disabilities and much more. Health and wellness has always been a passion for Dr. Duvnjak, but her eyes truly opened to the body's incredible ability to heal itself while pursuing her undergraduate degree at the University of Iowa where she had the incredible opportunity to work with Dr. Terry Wahls and assist with her Multiple Sclerosis research and Clinical Trials. Seeing first-hand the power of nutrition and individualized health care to completely reverse illness and restore the body to health made Dr. Duvnjak realize that this is exactly what she wanted to spend her career helping patients achieve.
Dr. Duvnjak completed a primary care/family medicine internship at the NUHS Whole Health Center, and she also holds a doctorate in chiropractic medicine. Her medical education included training in conventional medicine, advanced lab testing and diagnosis, pharmaceuticals, and minor surgery, as well as traditional healing principles and modalities such as botanical medicines, medical-grade supplementation, acupuncture and most importantly addressing the determinants of health (diet, lifestyle, environmental factors, etc.) to discover each individual's unique needs and imbalances to allow the body to heal from disease and achieve a true state of health and well-being. Training in Naturopathic Medicine provides a deep understanding of the human body as well as an understanding that our body is not just separate parts and organ systems, but one whole unit that iscompletely interconnected in everything that it does.
Dr. Duvnjak knows that the human body is incredibly intelligent, resilient and capable of healing at all levels of illness if given the proper conditions for health. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to treating any symptom or condition, which is why it is so important to treat the person, not the disease. We are all complex and unique individuals with completely different backgrounds, genetics, lifestyles, and environmental and toxic exposures and risk factors that all contribute to our development of symptoms and disease in a unique way.
She specializes in functional medicine, advanced lab testing and blood work analysis, women’s health, digestive health, functional endocrinology, and nutrition, but also works with a wide variety of different health conditions.
