Haley Hunt, MD, is a board-certified dermatologist at Soine Dermatology & Aesthetics in Covington and Hammond, Louisiana. She is passionate about all aspects of skin health and is excited to share her expertise in the Hammond area. Despite being born in Hawaii and growing up in Texas, the people and culture of southern Louisiana stole her heart, and she decided to stay for good after completing her residency training in New Orleans.
Dr. Hunt has special interests in treating acne, melanoma and other skin cancers, hair loss, psoriasis, and eczema, and loves to investigate a good rash. She is skilled in a variety of procedures, including cosmetic injectables (such as Botox or Dysport, fillers, Sculptra, and sclerotherapy for spider veins), as well as excisional surgeries for the removal of skin cancers, cysts, or lipomas, also incision and drainage of inflamed cysts, and nail avulsions or other nail procedures.
Dr. Hunt completed her Bachelor of Science in biology at Concordia University Texas, where she graduated summa cum laude and was awarded as a Distinguished Scholar Athlete for being the only student-athlete to date who graduated with a perfect 4.0 GPA while competing in sports all four years-even earning a Conference Championship for cross country her senior year. She completed her medical education at Paul L. Foster School of Medicine-Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso, where she earned an esteemed Foster Scholarship. She completed both her internship in internal medicine and her dermatology residency training at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, where she served as Chief Resident her senior year.
In her free time, Dr. Hunt enjoys spending time with high school sweetheart David, typically exercising and staying active, cooking/baking, crafting, or otherwise exploring the delectable food scene. She loves any reason to dress up, especially a good costume opportunity. You can also find her taking her sweet pup, Bessy, on long runs around the city.
Erik Soine, MD, is a Louisiana-bred dermatologist and the founder of Soine Dermatology & Aesthetics in Covington and Hammond, Louisiana.
Dr. Soine graduated Summa Cum Laude from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in biological science. He continued on at LSU, earning his medical doctorate, then completing his residency in both dermatology and internal medicine.
Raised in Mandeville, Dr. Soine has deep roots in Louisiana and has always had a passion for leadership and giving back. He has volunteered in Sierra Leone, Africa, helping assess the state of health care; he has traveled on both medical and dental missions to Granada, Nicaragua, through the Archdiocese of New Orleans; and he helped run a temporary hospital following Hurricane Katrina. Dr. Soine feels equally as passionate about educating his patients as well as upcoming medical professionals. Dr. Soine taught medical students basic examination skills and led discussions with 1st-year medical students on topics such as medical ethics.
He is an assistant professor in the department of dermatology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center and serves as part-time LSU faculty at the Department of Veteran Affairs in New Orleans.
Dr. Soine is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society of Dermatological Surgery, Louisiana State Medical Society, and Past President of the Louisiana Dermatological Society. Dr. Soine is also a member of the American Academy of Dermatology Electronic Health Records Implementation Task Force.
When not caring for his patients, Dr. Soine enjoys spending time with his wife Rebecca, a fellow dermatologist, and their three children. Dr. Soine was also part of the LSU Fighting Tigers Marching Band, playing the tenor saxophone.

She specializes in all things skin care, including general dermatology, cosmetic procedures, as well as surgery, and is committed to bringing exceptional health care to Tangipahoa Parish.
A graduate of Louisiana State University School of Medicine with a combined residency in dermatology and internal medicine, Dr. Rebecca Soine has been practicing dermatology since 2013. In that time, she has enjoyed the challenge of treating all types of skin and providing unique, thoughtful, and effective care plans for each patient.
Dr. Soine is committed to Tangipahoa by bringing much-needed expanded services to her practice to better serve the area. In addition to dermatological procedures, Dr. Rebecca can also provide cosmetic services. This includes injectables, such as Botox®, Dysport®, Juvederm®, and Restylane® products, and Sculptra® Aesthetic. Dr. Rebecca is also an expert in laser skin care and customizing topical skin care treatments for her patients.
With education playing such a large role in her own career and experience, it’s only natural that she would want to give back. Dr. Rebecca is on staff at both the LSU School of Medicine and Tulane University’s Department of Dermatology. She is determined to make sure that every new class of practitioners has a strong foundation to provide outstanding care to their future patients. Additionally, Dr. Rebecca Soine is a leading expert in cutaneous T-cell lymphoma and co-runs one of the only region-wide clinics for treatment.
When this extremely dedicated mother of four manages to find a spare moment, Dr. Rebecca loves spending time with her family, traveling, running, and “letting the good times roll,” not only during Mardi Gras but throughout the whole year.
Samantha Karlin, MD, is a board-certified dermatologist at Soine Dermatology & Aesthetics in Covington and Hammond, Louisiana. She followed the steps of her grandfather and father to become a physician. She knew from a young age that she wanted to dedicate her life to medicine. She joined the Soine Dermatology & Aesthetics team in 2022. Dr. Karlin graduated summa cum laude from the honors program at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia, where she earned two Bachelor of Science Degrees in biology and psychology.
She earned her medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans and was the sole recipient of the Chancellor’s Award for the School of Medicine at graduation. She completed her internship year in internal medicine at Tulane University in New Orleans and her residency in dermatology and dermatologic surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston, South Carolina, where she served as Chief Resident.
During her residency, she founded an educational sun safety program with her coresident (which was geared at teaching age-appropriate curriculums to K-12 students), consistently volunteered her time at an underserved community clinic, was selected by a boards preparation course to write test questions, and was recognized as a National Derm Rising Star. Dr. Karlin is board certified in dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology and has written multiple research articles that have been published in well-known dermatologic journals.
Dr. Karlin grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana, and, along with another medical student, founded and led the New Orleans Women and Children’s Shelter Medical Outreach Program during her medical school years. Both received the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship for their work. This educational and health-focused program continues to serve hundreds of unhoused women and their children at two locations in New Orleans. She was thrilled to return home to Louisiana and provides care to patients in all aspects of dermatology, including medical, surgical, and cosmetics.
When not caring for her patients, Dr. Karlin enjoys spending time with her husband, Aric Dunaway, and adorable Dalmatian, Murphy.
