At The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics: Maryland Orthopedic Specialists Division, patients can meet with Peter G. Fitzgibbons, MD, who specializes in hand and upper extremity orthopedic treatments. Dr. Fitzgibbons cares for men and women throughout Bethesda, Rockville, and Germantown, Maryland.

After completing his undergraduate studies at Harvard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Dr. Fitzgibbons obtained his medical degree program from a combined program at Dartmouth Medical School and Brown Medical School in Providence, Rhode Island. Dr. Fitzgibbons stayed at Brown University to complete his residency in orthopedic surgery as well as his fellowship in orthopedic trauma. He returned to Harvard for a fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery to gain further experience in his specialty.

Dr. Fitzgibbons is a highly regarded orthopedic surgeon who performs a wide variety of advanced procedures. Navid Ghalambor, MD, is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in shoulder, elbow and wrist surgeries, with special emphasis on the treatment of shoulder and elbow conditions.
​He received his medical degree from the University of Southern California - Keck School of Medicine.

He subsequently completed his orthopaedic surgery residency training at the University of Southern California – Los Angeles County Medical Center. Dr. Ghalambor underwent fellowship training in shoulder arthroscopy and reconstruction at the renowned Harvard Shoulder Program at the Massachusetts General Hospital and the Brigham and Woman’s Hospital in Boston. He also underwent an adult arthritis and reconstruction fellowship at the UCLA/Orthopaedic Hospital in Los Angeles.

​Dr. Navid Ghalambor was awarded the graduate research fellowship during his medical school training at USC. During his orthopaedic surgery training at USC, he was chosen by the faculty to be a chief resident of the program, which was one of the largest orthopaedic residencies in the country. Dr. Ghalambor has served as an Assistant Clinical Professor of orthopaedic surgery at USC for 12 years and during this time he has been involved in the training of orthopaedic surgery residents at the USC Sports Service. He has also served as an instructor of orthopaedic surgery at the Harvard Orthopaedic Surgery Program.

​Dr. Ghalambor has published numerous articles in peer reviewed orthopaedic surgery journals including articles on shoulder arthroplasty, instability and stiffness. He has given numerous local and national presentations including those at the annual meetings of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
His research has been presented at international orthopaedic surgery meetings. Dr. Ghalambor is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, California Orthopaedic Association, Codman Shoulder Society, and Southern California Society for Surgery of the Hand. He has been voted as being one of the “top doctors” in Orange County by Orange Coast Magazine and Orange County Medical Association. Dr. Ghalambor has also been chosen as one of the Southern California’s top doctors by Castle Connolly Medical, LTD.

​​Dr. Ghalambor enjoys trail running and hiking. One of his most memorable sports experiences was being the head coach of his son’s AYSO soccer team for 4 years and leading his BU10 Team to local and regional finals. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling and oil painting.

Anisa M. Yalom, MD, is a meticulous fellowship-trained hand surgeon who also specializes in microvascular surgery. As a member of the OasisMD team, she works in the offices in Encinitas, San Diego, and Temecula, California. 

She frequently performs reconstructive surgeries to restore the structure or improve patients’ fine motor skills after nerve, tendon and ligament injuries, fractures, joint conditions like arthritis, birth defects, or traumatic injuries to their hands, wrist, and forearms. She also performs vascularized lymph node transfer for the treatment of lymphedema and limb salvage surgeries, including vascularized bone grafts and free tissue transfer.

Dr. Yalom was born and raised in San Diego, California. She began her education at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in anthropology and studio art in 2000. She then attended Columbia University in New York City, where she received the certificate for postbaccalaureate premedical studies.

She is a proud graduate of David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA)/Charles R. Drew University, where she earned her medical degree in 2008. In medical school, she was recognized with the Dean’s Award for an Outstanding Thesis and the Award for Excellence in Surgery. 

Dr. Yalom completed her internship in general surgery at Harbor-UCLA in Torrance, California, where she was awarded the Intern of the Year award in 2009. She then went on to complete the rigorous general surgery residency at Harbor-UCLA in Torrance, California, in 2014.

Following her general surgery residency, she was accepted into the hand surgery fellowship program at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia where she was trained in the full range of hand surgery and microsurgical techniques for composite free tissue transfer and limb salvage under the guidance of Dr. L. Scott Levin.

After completing her hand surgery fellowship Dr. Yalom worked in Fresno, California, at a busy hand surgery practice serving the entire Central Valley of California before joining the team at OasisMD in San Diego, California.

Throughout her career, Dr. Yalom has earned numerous awards and honors for her outstanding work. In 2014, she won the Excellence in Teaching with Humanism Award at UCLA. Currently, she is a candidate member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand as well as the American Association for Surgery of the Hand. She is an associate fellow of the American College of Surgeons. In 2019, she received the honor of being selected as a Young Leader for the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
