Dr. Mazhar Khan, MD, FACC, is a Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiologist specializing in the management of heart rhythm disorders (abnormal heart beats) at Heart & Vascular Institute's location in Wayne, Michigan.  

Dr. Khan received his General Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology training at Penn State Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. 

Subsequently, he has done an advanced fellowship in Cardiac Electrophysiology at Washington Hospital Center, Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. 

Dr. Khan has worked as a Staff Cardiac Electrophysiologist and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. Later on, he worked with Wayne State University Physician Group as Staff Cardiac Electrophysiologist and Associate Professor of Medicine at Wayne State University School of Medicine. 

Dr. Khan has more than fifteen years of experience in diagnosing and treating a wide range of heart rhythm disorders. 

Dr. Khan is a member of the Heart Rhythm Society and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

Dr. Mohamad strives to help patients preserve their heart function and maintain their independence.

Dr. Mohamad graduated from Damascus University Faculty of Medicine in Syria. He then performed his residency in internal medicine at Detroit Medical Center. Dr. Mohamad extended his experience in cardiology through two fellowships at the same location.

Board-certified physician, Prasad Cherian, MD, specializes in noninvasive tests for cardiovascular disease. At Heart & Vascular Institute in Dearborn, Detroit, and Southfield, Michigan, Dr. Cherian evaluates patients using external tests, identifies heart problems, and helps his patients explore their treatment options. 

Dr. Cherian graduated from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Kentucky. He then performed his residency at the University of Louisville Hospital. Later, Dr. Cherian completed fellowships at the University of Utah in heart failure and cardiac transplant and at the State University of New York Upstate Medical University in general cardiology. 

During his fellowships, Dr. Cherian specialized in heart failure management. After moving to Michigan, he focused his attention on patients struggling with heart failure. Today, Dr. Cherian works with patients to manage complex medication regimens. He also monitors patients' progress and keeps up-to-date on assessments of their heart function. 

Dr. Cherian has a passion for medicine, and he enjoys working with the next generation of physicians. He's proud to oversee the work of many medical students within the field of cardiology.

Interventional Cardiologist, Dr. Bassel Hassouna MD specializes in treating patients with Coronary Artery Disease, either through medications or through different kinds of procedures. He is triple boarded and is looking forward to providing his services at Heart and Vascular Institute in Wayne, Michigan. 

Dr. Hassouna graduated from the American University of Beirut Medical School. After which he completed his residency and a fellowship in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology from the George Washington University Hospital in Washington D.C. 

During his residency, Dr. Hassouna was inducted in the Alpha-Omega-Alpha honor medical society. He has been published in several journals and has given presentations in different medical meetings. After his fellowship, he practiced for four years in one of the major hospitals in Beirut where he was also the head of the Cardiology Department.

He is fluent in three languages (English, Arabic and French), which he hopes he will use in order to help him provide care to the highest number of patients possible. 

Dr. Blank is an interventional cardiologist here at the Heart @ Vascular Institute. He holds supreme skills in general cardiology, cardiology imaging, interventional cardiology and cardiology critical care.

Dr. Blank specializes in treating patients with chronic and acute heart disease. Coronary artery disease, to the most advanced coronary procedures and techniques. He specializes in mechanical circulatory support devices, structural heart procedures, peripheral vascular procedures and more.

In addition to his specialty in general cardiology, Dr. Blanks competed wide and unique advanced training in cardiology including: post-doctoral training in cardio-oncology research and clinical echocardiography at McGill University, Montreal Canada. Interventional cardiology and advanced (CHIP) interventional cardiology at the Detroit Medical Center.

Dr. Blank serves as an Assistant Professor at Wayne State University.
