After obtaining her doctorate in medicine, she pursued residency training in family medicine at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan.

Dr. Zahir was born and raised in Beckley, West Virginia. He earned his undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He then went on to pursue his medical education at the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine in Huntington, West Virginia.
After completing his formal education, Dr. Zahir received internship training from Case Western Reserve University/MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio.
