Hi my name is Michael Viscidy and I am a Licensed Social Worker who graduated with my Master's from Rutgers University. I have worked in mental health hospitals and addiction centers at nearly every level of care including inpatient and outpatient programs. I have spent thousands of hours facilitating individual and group therapy sessions. I believe in having an eclectic therapeutic approach in treating my clients as to the fact that no one is the same. The issues I have most experience treating are as follows: Depression, Anxiety, and Addiction. I am also competent at family/couples counseling.
You’re exhausted from feeling like this. Feeling like there is something… off. This could be persistent feelings of emptiness in your chest, feelings of jitters in your stomach, or thoughts that won’t let go in your mind. As you’re reading this, I want to congratulate you. You have already completed the first step towards taking control.
I will be there as you continue to take more steps towards the future you envision. Together we will explore difficulties and set goals you look forward to accomplishing. I work with people of all genders and all sexualities. I have experience with people who struggle with panic, anxiety, depression, loss, and difficult life changes.
I believe that our uniqueness is a strength that needs to be fully understood, nourished and is a key tool to empower ourselves. I am looking forward to hearing from you!
Imagine you had a friend struggling with a problem, wouldn’t you do everything in your power to help them? Now imagine that friend is you. Give yourself the same grace, respect, and attention you would give to a friend in need. Whether you have been struggling with depression throughout the pandemic in silence or are just realizing your persistent anxiety is not getting better with exercise. Therapy can be the solution to heal the past and keep you focused on the present.
My therapeutic approach is trauma-informed and holistic with a mind, body, spirit connection. Exploring each part and piecing them make together to create lasting change. To achieve this change, I combine empowerment and strength-based psychotherapy with MBCT, somatic experiencing, CBT, and creative arts therapy.
Now imagine loving yourself the way you love your best friend. Self-care can become your new normal, confidence your new language. Together we will find the solutions that best address your needs to help you live your best life.
Learning how to take care of your mind, body and soul is vital in your journey. Where do you even begin? You’re stuck dealing with emotions that can be challenging when you don’t know how to start. We live in a fast paced world where people are constantly bombarding us with their problems when we have responsibilities of our own. What's worse is many times we don't know how to go about our responsibilities because of the overwhelming emotions we tend to battle with. When our minds are constantly running, it can feel impossible to be engaged in the present moment. I want to help you become more present and aware of your feelings.
I work with individuals to help them find healing through different techniques in centering their lives more around mindfulness. I incorporate a lifestyle of transparency teaching people the importance of opening themselves up by expressing their emotions in order to truly find out who they are. I want to make individuals feel valued, seen and heard.
