Allopathic medicine, otherwise known as western-medicine, has been on the front-line of his training and practice however, the more he practices, the more limitations he sees in a western-centric approach. Several years ago, he dove deep into alternative methods during his father’s battle with Alzheimer’s. Western medicine was failing his quick progression. He experienced first-hand the painful limitations and weaknesses of a western-only medical approach and it was only after his passing that he incorporated alternative therapies into his practice – specifically hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). In 2015, Dr. Cohen incorporated hyperbaric therapy into his practice with the goal of improving brain wellness and prolonging brain longevity.
His research and approach to brain wellness and longevity is based on hundreds of scientific studies, reviews and analyses from around the world. As the only standalone medical center in the city of Chicago with medical-grade hyperbaric chambers, hyperbaric therapy at CNS has become the leading authority in hyperbaric treatments in the Midwest.
To expand on the care of his patients needing infusions, in 2019 Dr. Cohen , launched an IV infusion suite offering infusions for cancer, multiple sclerosis, autoimmune disorders and migraine therapy as well as vitamins, alpha-lipoic acid and NAD+ infusions.
With new discoveries in healthcare, Dr. Cohen brings them to his patients. The newest addition to his practice is Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) which is FDA-approved for depression and OCD. TMS is also currently in use for a variety of neurological conditions as a part of research.
The integrative collaboration of all three practices is a gamechanger in the new world of brain wellness and longevity. Dr. Cohen has helped countless patients live optimal lives, providing care, resources and options for all of us to live longer optimal lives.

Founder & Director, Synergy Integrative Headache Center
President, American Interventional Headache Society
Medical Director, Ascension Illinois Comprehensive Headache and Migraine Unit, Chicago, IL
Dr. Alexander Feoktistov is a nationally recognized expert in migraine, complex headache disorders, and interventional headache medicine. He is known for treating patients who have not improved with standard approaches - while also helping those early in their journey achieve faster, more precise relief.
He serves as Medical Director of the Comprehensive Inpatient Headache Unit at Ascension Saint Joseph – Chicago, where he oversees the care of patients with severe and treatment-resistant headache conditions requiring advanced, multidisciplinary management.
Patients travel from across the country to see Dr. Feoktistov for one reason: he approaches headache disorders with a level of precision, depth, and persistence that most clinics simply do not offer.
Dr. Feoktistov is board-certified in Headache Medicine (UCNS) and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pain Medicine. His background uniquely bridges neurology and interventional pain medicine - allowing him to diagnose accurately and treat comprehensively.
He trained at the renowned Diamond Headache Clinic under Seymour Diamond, MD, and later completed a Pain Management fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic - two of the most respected institutions in headache and pain medicine.
From 2011 to 2020, he served as Director of Clinical Research at Diamond Headache Clinic, where he led and participated in numerous clinical trials shaping modern migraine therapy.
He has authored over 40 peer-reviewed publications, contributed to multiple book chapters, and lectures nationally and internationally on advanced headache treatment strategies.
Dr. Feoktistov specializes in advanced, image-guided procedures designed to target the true source of pain - not just mask symptoms.
These include:
Botox® for chronic migraine and movement disorders
Ultrasound-guided trigger point injections
Peripheral nerve blocks (occipital, supraorbital, auriculotemporal)
Sphenopalatine ganglion (SPG) blocks
Cervical facet interventions and radiofrequency ablation
Advanced interventional techniques tailored to each patient
Every treatment plan is individualized, strategic, and built around a clear diagnosis - not a one-size-fits-all protocol.
Dr. Feoktistov’s approach is grounded in three principles:
Listen carefully - because details matter
Diagnose precisely - because the wrong diagnosis leads to years of unnecessary suffering
Treat comprehensively - because lasting relief requires more than a prescription
Patients often describe him as thorough, thoughtful, and deeply committed to helping them regain control of their lives.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Feoktistov has a strong interest in wellness, longevity, and human performance. He is an avid reader and an enthusiastic coffee experimenter, constantly refining ways to optimize focus and energy.
He is also a lifelong hockey fan and believes that discipline, strategy, and consistency - on and off the ice—are key to long-term success.
When you meet Dr. Feoktistov, you’ll notice something different:
He listens without rushing.
He explains with clarity.
And he approaches your condition with the same level of care and precision he would expect for his own family.

As someone who has a keen interest in psychology and neurobiology, I could not be more excited for the opportunity to combine the two and assist others in improving their mental health. With Mindful TMS, I can utilize my passion for helping others while diving deeper into the medical field. I look to provide patients with support through advocacy and communication while remaining open, approachable, and confidant. Aside from my dedication to medicine and psychology, I love spending time outside, my cat, and finding new coffee shops! I am excited to be part of a team that cares deeply about their patients and understands how essential providing mental health support is for everyone.
