Bethwel Raore, MD, FAANS, is a board-certified neurosurgeon at Apex Spine and Neurosurgery in Alpharetta, Bethlehem, Columbus, and Suwanee, Georgia. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in biology at Grinnell College in Iowa, where he graduated with honors. He then attended Creighton University School of Medicine where he earned his Doctor of Medicine. Dr. Raore then completed a research fellowship at Emory University Neuroscience, as well as a clinical fellowship at Arkansas Neuroscience Institute. Following the fellowship, he completed his residency in neurological surgery in the department of neurosurgery at Emory University.
After completing his medical training, Dr. Raore worked as a staff neurosurgeon at The Clinical Neuroscience Institute at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. He continued to work as a neurosurgeon at several other offices before starting at Apex Spine and Neurosurgery in July 2020.
Dr. Raore has contributed his medical expertise to numerous research studies, publications, and presentations. He is a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, American Medical Association, Christian Medical and Dental Association, and Pan-African Academy of Christian Surgeons.
He has volunteered for international medical service trips in Kenya, and founded the Kisumu Neuroscience Initiative to formulate a program to provide short term, rotating, neurosurgical service coverage for the 12 million people without access to neurosurgical services in Western Kenya.
Robert Ayer, MD, FAANS, is a board-certified neurosurgeon and partner at Apex Spine and Neurosurgery in Alpharetta, Bethlehem, Columbus, and Suwanee, Georgia.
Dr. Ayer attended Boston University for his undergraduate degree, where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts in biology. He then earned his Doctor of Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Ayer completed general surgery residency programs at Loma Linda University Medical Center in California and Ochsner Clinical Foundation in New Orleans, Louisiana. He then completed a neuroscience research fellowship at Loma Linda University Medical Center before completing an additional neurological surgery residency program at the same institution. Eventually, he would become the Chief Resident of the Neurological Surgery Residency Program. He also completed a complex and minimally invasive spinal surgery enfolded fellowship at the Swedish Neuroscience Institute in Seattle, Washington. Dr. Ayer rounded out his medical training with a fellowship in skull base neurosurgery at the University of California Irvine Medical Center (UC Irvine).
Following his medical training, Dr. Ayer worked in a variety of settings, including as a clinical instructor at UC Irvine in the department of neurological surgery, and as an attending neurosurgeon at Neurosurgery and Spine Associates at Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
Dr. Ayer received the Georgia Top Docs award in 2020, and recognition for exceptional patient care at Loma Linda University. He is a Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, and is also a member of several professional organizations, including the Georgia Neurosurgical Society, Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and American Association of Neurological Surgeons.

Dave Seecharan, MD, FAANS, is a board-certified neurosurgeon with Apex Spine and Neurosurgery in Alpharetta, Bethlehem, Columbus, and Suwanee, Georgia.
Dr. Seecharan earned his Bachelor of Science degree in neuroscience with a molecular biology minor at Vanderbilt University in Tennessee. He completed his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis before completing a general surgery internship at the University of Kansas Department of Surgery in Kansas City. Dr. Seecharan rounded out his medical training with a residency in neurological surgery at the University of Kansas Department of Neurosurgery.
After completing his training, Dr. Seecharan worked as a staff neurosurgeon at Singing River Health System in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, and Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
Dr. Seecharan continues to stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in his field and is a member of several organizations, including the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and Society for Neuroscience.
He has authored several book chapters on the surgical management of brain tumors as well as spinal cord injury. He also has an extensive background in basic neuroscience research with published articles concerning neurogenetics and neuroplasticity.

Mairaj Sami, MD, joined Apex Spine and Neurosurgery in 2020, where he delivers exceptional diagnostic and treatment services to patients living or working in and around Alpharetta, Bethlehem, Columbus, and Suwanee, Georgia. Dr. Sami excels in treating a diverse range of neurological conditions with a particular interest in complex and minimally invasive spine surgery, neuro-oncology, cranial vascular surgery, peripheral nerve conditions, and functional neurosurgery.
Dr. Sami earned a bachelor's degree in brain, behavior, and cognitive science and a master's degree in biology before taking his place at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana, as the Julius M. Goodman Scholar. After graduating, Dr. Sami completed his neurological surgery residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas, where he served as chief resident.
Dr. Sami participated in the running of numerous clinical research studies and has published papers in respected medical journals, including the Journal of Neurosurgery: Pediatrics and Clinical Neurology and Neurosurgery. Dr. Sami's expertise has seen him featured in several medical textbooks, and he's given numerous oral and poster presentations at professional meetings and conferences.
Receiving frequent recognition for his knowledge, skills, and achievements in neurosurgery, Dr. Sami was a finalist in the Congress of Neurological Surgeons Self-Assessment in Neurosurgery Challenge, where he scored in the top eight. He also earned the Kansas University neurosurgery department's American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS) Examination award for exceptional performance on the ABNS primary exam.
In addition to his devotion to his patients and commitment to furthering the neurology knowledge base, Dr. Sami has also served on several committees at Kansas University, including Neurosurgery Education and Training, Neurosurgery Quality Improvement, and Transitions of Care.
