Michael Negrey, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in the treatment of corneal diseases, cataracts, and refractive surgery at Negrey Eye Associates in Havertown and Media, Pennsylvania. Dr. Negrey specializes in tissue-sparing corneal transplants, cataract surgery, and laser vision correction. In addition, he provides comprehensive eye exams to patients of all ages.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Colgate University, graduating cum laude in 1995. Prior to medical school, he spent a year investigating cancer treatments at the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Institute in Philadelphia. He completed medical school at Sidney Kimmel Medical College (formerly Jefferson Medical College) in Philadelphia in 2000, where he won the Carroll B. Mullen Award for Excellency in Ophthalmology. He interned at Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center in Denver, Colorado. In 2015, he graduated from the Pennsylvania Medical Society Physician Leadership Program.
He then trained in ophthalmology at the prestigious Wills Eye Hospital. There, he assisted in the revision and update of the “Imaging in Ophthalmology” chapter for the Wills Eye Manual 4th edition, which is used by eye care providers throughout the country. After his residency, Dr. Negrey completed a one-year fellowship in refractive surgery, cornea and external disease at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Following his fellowship, he was an associate ophthalmologist for five years at a busy surgical eye practice in New England, performing cataract, corneal, and refractive surgeries.
Dr. Negrey is committed to staying up to date with the latest innovations in ophthalmology and the medical community. He is an active participant in the Wills Eye Residency Program, proctoring residents in cataract surgery and seeing patients in the primary eye care service. Since 2013, he has been an active board member of the Delaware County Medical Society, whose mission is to advocate for physicians and the needs of their patients. Dr. Negrey has also been recognized by his peers as a “Top Doc” in Main Line Today since 2012.
Dr. Negrey and his family reside in Wayne, Pennsylvania. On the weekends, Dr. Negrey and his family often can be found at the Haverford reserve enjoying the playground or playing soccer at a local pick-up game. When he has the chance, Dr. Negrey also devotes his time to charitable programs, having run in the Philadelphia, Boston, and Chicago marathons to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Mark Heimmel, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist and surgeon at Eye Care Specialists in East Windsor, New Jersey. Dr. Heimmel is highly experienced in vision correction surgery, performing over 30,000 procedures since 2006.
Dr. Heimmel has been honored with many awards including Top Ophthalmologists in America, Compassionate Doctor Award, Patient’s Choice Award, Castle Connolly Top Doctor, NJ Top Docs, and New York Magazine’s Top Doctors. As a result, he is among the most chosen ophthalmologists by other doctors and nurses for their own care.
He started his practice, Eye Care Specialists, with the vision to deliver the latest treatments for his patients. Dr. Heimmel believes that each patient is unique and loves spending time with them to discuss their treatment goals and needs.
Dr. Heimmel was selected to join a prestigious BA/MD program at Rutgers University. He graduated with high honors and then went on to complete his residency training at Brown University Warren Alpert Medical School.
Dedicated to safe and comfortable eye care, Dr. Heimmel is certified in LASIK and LenSx® cataract surgery. He is well-known as a specialist in laser eye surgery and intraocular lens (IOL) treatments. He has also published numerous articles in esteemed medical journals on treatments for age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and diabetic retinopathy.

Dr. Brader received her bachelor’s degree (cum laude) from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and her medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine, also in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. There, she was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical honors society.
She was awarded a Doris Duke clinical research fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania Department of Ophthalmology, where she focused her research on Macular Degeneration. Dr. Brader completed an internship in preliminary internal medicine at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia and an ophthalmology residency at the University of Pennsylvania Scheie Eye Institute in Philadelphia.
She continued her training as a retina fellow at Harvard Medical School Massachusetts Eye and Ear in Boston, Massachusetts, where she received the Heed Ophthalmic Foundation Fellowship Award.
Dr. Brader has received numerous other awards and honors, including Philadelphia Magazine/Castle Connolly Top Doctor, designation as Fellow of the American Society of Retina Specialists, and the practice has received the ASRS Retina Practice Commitment to Quality Award. She’s a member of numerous professional organizations and maintains her credentials with continuing education.

John Negrey, founding partner of Negrey Eye Associates, grew up in Havertown, son of a family practitioner.
After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Negrey attended the Wharton Graduate School of Business but decided to change careers and become a physician. He received a Masters Degree in Microbiology at the University of Pennsylvania and taught high school science before entering Temple University’s School of Medicine.
Dr. Negrey interned at Penn-Presbyterian Medical Center, then completed his military service before entering Wills Eye Hospital for his residency and fellowship in ocular plastic surgery. Before retiring from the teaching staff at both Wills Eye Hospital and Jefferson University, he had risen academically to an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology. He established, also, two primary care ophthalmology offices in Havertown and Media. Dr. Negrey is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, Past President of Philadelphia Ophthalmology Club, Delaware Valley Ophthalmologic Society, and Former Chief of Ophthalmology at Delaware County Memorial Hospital.
His special interest is glaucoma. He consults in all areas of ophthalmology utilizing his vast experience to provide opinions and solutions for patients with ocular problems.
Dr. Negrey’s special interests outside of ophthalmology are participating in the development of his eight grandchildren, travel, and an occasional round of golf.
