Expert orthodontist C. Neil Kay, BDS, MS, is excited to help patients achieve the smile of their dreams at Kay & Morris Orthodontics, located in Boulder Hill and Sandwich, Illinois. He loves that each and every patient is different. He’s always been fascinated by facial and dental structure, and by how new technology leads to better means of treating patients.
Dr. Kay completed his Bachelor of Science in Anatomy at the University of London, graduating with First Class Honors. He then completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery at Guys Hospital Dental School, University of London, where he graduated with Honors. He completed a Certificate in Orthodontics at the University of Illinois in Chicago, and is a recipient of the William B. Downs Award for Clinical Excellence, as well as a Recipient of the Newland-Pedley Scholarship and a scholarship from the American Dental Society of England. He rounded out his training with a Master of Science in Orthodontics from the University of Illinois in Chicago.
Following his training, Dr. Kay worked as an orthodontist at the Center for Craniofacial Anomalies (University of Illinois). He was voted a top Orthodontist in the Fox Valley area from 2010-2020. He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, World Federation of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Midwestern Society of Orthodontists, Illinois Society of Orthodontists, Illinois Dental Society, Aurora Dental Society, and the Fox Valley Dental Society. As a member of an international group of orthodontists who suggest and evaluate products for a major orthodontic company, he collaborates with other leaders in the profession to produce new technologies, products, and methods that lead to incredible results.
Throughout the year, Dr. Kay attends local and national dental and orthodontic meetings to stay current with rapid changes in the profession. This ensures he is able to provide his patients with the highest level of care available. Additionally, Dr. Kay has lectured on orthodontics at the University of Illinois, as well as teaching in England, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, and Uganda.
Dr. Kay grew up in Bolton, in northern England, but now lives in Yorkville, Illinois. When he is not working, Dr. Kay enjoys traveling and exploring other cultures. Dr. Kay has been all over the world offering orthodontic care through Health Volunteers Overseas. He served on the American Dental Association International Volunteer Committee for eight years with four years as Chairman. He was awarded the U.S. Presidential Call to Service Award by President G.W. Bush because he has devoted over 4,000 hours to volunteer dental work in other countries.

Joseph Kunnel, DDS, MS, PhD, is a highly experienced orthodontist who provides excellent patient care at RISUS Orthodontics, which has three convenient locations in Glenview, Northbrook, and Skokie, Illinois.
Dr. Kunnel earned his dental degree at Northwestern University Dental School in Chicago, where he also completed his residency in advanced general dentistry and earned his Master of Science in Biomaterials. He then went on to the University of Illinois, where he completed specialty training in Orthodontics and earned a master’s in Oral Biology. During that time, he also completed a PhD in Bone Biology at Northwestern University Medical School.
Dr. Kunnel is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. He’s also a member of the American Dental Association, the Chicago Dental Society, the International Association of Dental Research, and the American Association of Orthodontics.
In addition to his clinic work at RISUS Orthodontics, Dr. Kunnel is also active in teaching the next generation of orthodontics. He’s currently an assistant professor at Northwestern University Medical School, and he has spent time teaching at Northwestern University Dental School and in the department of orthodontics at the University of Illinois and Marquette University in Milwaukee. He’s lectured at various national and international conferences of dentists and orthodontists, and he has published many peer-reviewed scientific papers.
Dr. Kunnel’s skills and service have been recognized by numerous organizations. The American Association of Orthodontists honored him with the Orhan C. Tuncay Teaching Fellowship Award and the National Institute of Health gave him the Clinical Scientist Award. He’s also the recipient of the Howard Hughes Award.
When he isn’t treating patients, Dr. Kunnel enjoys spending time with his wife, Jessie, and their children, Theresa, Elizabeth, and George, in their home in Glenview, Illinois. He’s still active with bone biology research, and he likes to read and play tennis.

Dr. Piano earned her dental degree from Midwestern University’s College of Dental Medicine in Downers Grove, Illinois. She went on to complete specialty training at Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, California, where she earned a Master of Science in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.
Dr. Piano provides her patients with exceptional treatments, using the most modern tools and technology available to dentistry. She keeps herself on the cutting-edge of the field through her membership in various professional associations, including the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontics, and the Illinois State Dental Society.
Dr. Piano grew up among dental professionals in Burr Ridge, Illinois. Dr. Schwartz grew up in Tampa, Florida, although he has called Chicago home for the past 11 years. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology and Cell Science with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Florida in Gainesville. Dr. Schwartz also received a Degree in Medical Science from the University of Florida.
Following his graduate studies, Dr. Schwartz attended the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he obtained a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree, graduating among the top of 5 in his class. Continuing at the University of Illinois, he completed his orthodontic specialty training and earned a Master of Science degree in Oral Sciences and a certificate in Orthodontics.
