Daniel Howard, MD, FAAOS, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with subspecialty fellowship training in sports medicine. He provides individualized, compassionate care to patients at Somers Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine Group in Mount Kisco, Fishkill, and Carmel, New York, and Danbury, Connecticut.
Dr. Howard graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in biology from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a member of the cross country and track and field teams. He received his Doctor of Medicine from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis before completing his orthopaedic surgery residency at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City, where he served as the Administrative Chief Resident during his final year. He then went on to the prestigious Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles to complete his sports medicine fellowship, where he was part of the medical staff of the Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Galaxy, Los Angeles Sparks, and many junior colleges and high schools.
He has written numerous peer-reviewed publications and performed research involving NFL, MLB, MLS, and NWSL athletes. His research interests and projects include injury prevention in youth and adolescent pitchers and athletes, safe return to sport after injury, improving and measuring patient outcomes, and improving surgical techniques.

Dr. Howard treats a wide variety of orthopaedic and sports-related issues of the knee, shoulder, elbow, and hip. He has particular clinical interests in knee injuries of the ligaments, meniscus, and cartilage; shoulder injuries of the rotator cuff, labrum, and instability; working with overhead and throwing athletes; and working with runners.
Dr. Howard offers his patients specialized treatment with minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery and robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery, as well as state-of-the-art technology including platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and stem cell treatment. He currently serves as the Team Physician for Mahopac High School and Assistant Team Physician for Pace University. Matthew Rogell, MD, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon at Somers Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine Group. He has practiced in the greater Danbury, Connecticut, area since 2006.
With fellowship expertise in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery, Dr. Rogell also specializes in procedures for adult total joint and reconstruction of the knees, hips, and shoulders. He uses the latest technology, bringing to his patients the use of stem cell and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapies and patient-specific joint reconstruction.
He attended Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, followed by two years of research at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Rogell attended Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed his surgical internship at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He then completed his orthopaedic surgical residency at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York, and St. Vincent’s Hospital in New York City. Afterward, he returned to MedStar Union Memorial Hospital to complete a sports medicine fellowship.
During his years of training, Dr. Rogell was affiliated with the New York Rangers, the Baltimore Ravens, Baltimore Blast, Junior Olympics, and various college and high school teams. His career includes working with the Danbury Militia football team, the Danbury Whalers and Titans hockey teams, the Danbury Westerners baseball team, and local high schools. He also volunteers his time with our veterans through Warrior Hike.

Dr. Smith graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science in human development. DANIEL B. BUCHALTER, M.D. is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in minimally invasive hip and knee replacement, Birmingham Hip Resurfacing, as well as complex primary and revision hip and knee reconstruction.
