Daniel Smith, MD, FAAOS, is a fellowship-trained, board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement surgery. He sees patients at Somers Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine Group in Carmel, Fishkill, and Mount Kisco, New York, as well as Danbury, Connecticut.
Dr. Smith graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science in human development. He earned his medical degree at New York University Grossman School of Medicine and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Montefiore Medical Center, affiliated with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Joel Buchalter has been in practice since 1988, and with his lifelong professional partner, Dr. Joel Buchalter, is a founding and managing partner of Somers Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine Group. He is the Chief of Joint Replacement Surgery at Northern Westchester Hospital and the Medical Director at the Orthopaedic & Specialty Surgery Center in Danbury, Connecticut. He is on staff at Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco, Orthopaedic & Specialty Surgery Center in Danbury, and Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel, New York.
He has served many years as the Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Putnam Hospital Center and as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine. Dr. Buchalter’s main interest is in joint replacement surgery. He performs minimally invasive hip and knee replacements using the most advanced technology. He utilizes robotics (MAKO) and computer navigation, as well as muscle sparing direct anterior hip replacements with the HANA table. Many patients can go home the same day after a hip or knee replacement. The remaining patients are usually 23 hour stays with a discharge to home. Advanced anesthetic techniques, local anesthetic blocks, and non-narcotic medications are used to minimize post operative pain and accelerate recoveries. Dr. Buchalter also performs shoulder replacements, hip and knee revisions, and arthroscopic knee and shoulder surgery.
Dr. Buchalter received his original board certification in Orthopaedic Surgery in 1990 and has re-certified in 2000, 2010, and 2020. Dr. Buchalter graduated Magna Cum Laude from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering. Victor Khabie, MD, FAAOS, FACS, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon at Somers Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine Group. He is Co-Chairman of Orthopedic Surgery at Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco, New York.

Dr. Khabie received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, followed by an internship in general surgery at the New York University (NYU) School of Medicine. After his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York City, he went on to complete his fellowship in sports medicine surgery at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles, a world-renowned center in diagnosing and treating orthopaedic and sports medicine injuries.

Scott Levin, MD, FAAOS, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with subspecialty fellowship training in sports medicine at Somers Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine Group. He is proud to provide care to patients at the practice’s locations in Mount Kisco, Fishkill, Newburgh, and Carmel, New York, and Danbury, Connecticut.
Dr. Levin graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science in biology. He earned his Doctor of Medicine at Temple University and completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at Stony Brook University in New York, where he was selected as the Administrative Chief Resident during his final year. He went on to complete his sports medicine fellowship at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, where he developed expertise in evaluating sports-related injuries and the skills to treat them with a minimally invasive technique.
During his time at Lenox Hill, he also had the opportunity to work with many professional and collegiate athletes, serving as an assistant team physician for the New York Jets and the New York Islanders, in addition to Hofstra University and Hunter College. Dr. Levin continues to serve as the team physician for local high school teams, including Horace Greeley High School and Somers High School, and is the assistant team physician for Pace University. He is the co-author of several research articles, including book chapters on various orthopaedic procedures.
Dr. Levin cares for both high-level competitive athletes and weekend warriors and takes a team approach with his patients to get them back in the game. He has extensive experience in both non-operative and operative treatment of injuries of the shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee with a focus on minimally invasive arthroscopic treatment. He is one of only a few providers in Westchester County and the Hudson Valley with a specialized clinical interest in arthroscopic treatment of the hip, using advanced arthroscopic techniques to treat various hip disorders, such as labral tears and femoroacetabular impingement. In addition, he performs office-based ultrasound-guided injections, including platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and stem cell therapy.

Yariv Maghen, MD, FAAOS, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon at Somers Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine Group in Fishkill and Carmel, New York, and Danbury, Connecticut. In addition to general orthopaedic conditions, Dr. Maghen employs both surgical and non-surgical options in treating various musculoskeletal disorders.
Dr. Maghen graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with honors and earned his medical degree at New York Medical College. He completed his general orthopaedic training at Westchester Medical Center in New York, a level 1 trauma center serving the entire Hudson Valley.
