Kevin Bedwell earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Hope College and Schiller International University in Heidelberg Germany before pursuing his Certificate in Physician Assistant Studies. During his education, he displayed an exceptional aptitude for understanding the complexities of pain physiology and management, setting the foundation for future specialization. With experience in Spine surgery he began working at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in 2009 on the Orthopedic team. Because of the Global War on Terror he treated many amputees who lost their limbs in battle. This is where he began years of pain management working in Orthopedics for several years treating joint replacement patients

Dr. Kapteyn received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, WV, followed by a medical internship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Kapteyn then pursued his residency at Georgetown University and the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington D.C. He further honed his expertise through fellowship training in interventional pain at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Dr Kapteyn is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, pain medicine, and board eligible Hospice and Palliative care. A multidisciplinary, balanced approach to pain medicine is a hallmark of his care to bring improvement in function.
From 2009 to 2013, Dr. Kapteyn served as the Medical Director of Pain Medicine at Drake Hospital, a University of Cincinnati Hospital, where he served and at times led the medical executive committee and represented Drake on the drug planning and development committee. Kapteyn subsequently entered private practice with Orthopedic Associates Muskegon, where he worked until 2023. During his career, he also worked as a physician consultant with Hydrocision, and as the physician lead in the development of TenJet for minimally invasive tenotomies. Additionally, Dr. Kapteyn worked in hospice and palliative care with Harbor Hospice,and served as an independent director and science consultant on the board of NewAge Beverages from 2017-2020. Dr. Kapteyn has gained recognition for his skills in minimally invasive ultrasound guided procedures, including carpal tunnel release and trigger finger releases, as well as TenJet for elbow tenotomy, hip, shoulder, and achilles tendon. In addition to spinal injections, Dr Kapteyn performs procedures such as basi-vertebral nerve ablation, interspinous vertiflex for spinal stenosis, spinal cord stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation, kyphoplasty and radiofrequency ablation. Dr. Kapteyn has numerous contributions to medical research. including NIH research on neurophysiological correlates in chronic stroke patients. He also served as a lead investigator for the PUGET study, which examined the outcomes of tenotomies for medial and lateral epicondylitis. He participated in CITRUS

study with SonexHealth, observing outcomes of ultrasound guided carpal tunnel release. Furthermore, he participated in research on a novel migraine prophylactic treatment for chronic migraine headaches with Healthy Extracts, publishing “A Unique medium chain triglyceride-containing micronutrient complex: Effects on chronic migraine headache”. A Grand Rapids, MI native, Dr. Kapteyn loves the warm weather and vibrant culture of the nations capital, Washington, DC, and is excited to return. He enjoys ballroom dancing, performing vocally, performing recently with the Williamsburg Symphony, he enjoys both HIIT and tabata exercising, golfing, cooking, gardening and hiking and mountain biking. He has three college-aged daughters and was married to Nancy Kapteyn for 25 years until she passed away from breast cancer. In her memory, Dr. Kapteyn encourages contributions to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Alexander Behnaz, MD, NP, is a dual-boarded interventional pain specialist and physiatrist. Dr. Behnaz brings advanced expertise and experience from his previous practice at a major orthopedics group in the DMV. He looks forward to serving patients in Falls Church, Alexandria, and throughout Northern Virginia at Integrated Spine and Pain Services.

Driven by a deep understanding of the profound impact of pain on patients’ daily lives, Dr. Behnaz finds the study of pain to be a fascinating and essential field. Through his experience and fellowship training, he gained extensive expertise in utilizing advanced techniques to alleviate pain and enhance patients’ quality of life. Dr. Behnaz completed his fellowship training in Interventional Pain at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). Dr. Behnaz completed a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at Sentara Norfolk General and Portsmouth Naval Hospital, where he honed his skills in diagnosing and treating a wide range of musculoskeletal and neurologic conditions. Prior to that, he worked at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

In his spare time, Dr. Behnaz enjoys cycling, long-form improv, and traveling.

Stephanie Clop, MD, is a board-certified physiatrist focusing on physical medicine and rehabilitation at Integrated Spine and Pain Services in Falls Church and Alexandria, Virginia. Dr. Clop dedicates her practice to state-of-the-art treatments of acute and chronic pain.

Dr. Clop graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Exercise Physiology and a minor in biology and chemistry at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia. She completed her Doctor of Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia.

She completed a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency and an internship in trauma surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedics, internal medicine, and geriatrics at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Dr. Clop finished another physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at San Juan Veterans Medical Center in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She then worked as an emergency room physician at Southwest Medical Associates in Rockport, Texas.

Dr. Clop was a physiatrist at several practices, including Physical Therapy Center in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico, Ashtar Physical Therapy Center in Vega Alta, Puerto Rico, and Matilde Brenes Hospital in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.

She worked at Reston Surgical Center in Reston, Virginia, and currently has consulting privileges at Reston Hospital. After practicing as a physiatrist at Town Center Orthopedics in Reston, Virginia, Dr. Clop joined National Spine & Pain Centers in Aldie, Virginia.

She was honored as a NorthernVirginia top doctor, a Washingtonian best doctor from 2012 to 2017, and received a Patient's Choice Award. Dr. Clop is a diplomat of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Academy of Pain Medicine.

Dr. Clop holds her medical licensure in Virginia and is fluent in Spanish and English.

Khyanne McCutchen, APRN, FNP-C, is a born native of New York and moved to Baltimore, Maryland as a young child. She’s had a long-time goal to work in the medical field. She began and ended her formal education at historically black colleges and universities (HBCU’s).In 2010, she graduated with a 4.0 GPA from Sojourner Douglass College with a licensed practical nursing certification. Sojourner Douglass College was the only HBCU in Maryland that offered the LPN-BSN bridge program.In 2012, she completed the bachelor program graduating Cum Laude, earning a bachelor of science in nursing degree. In 2017, she entered the accelerated nurse practitioner program at Coppin State University. After two years, she graduated with a master’s in science of nursing, specializing in Family Nurse Practitioner.

Throughout her registered nursing career, she has worked in a variety of specialties that have molded her into well-rounded health professional. Ms. McCutchen’s first year and a half of her nursing career were spent in long-term care with a focus on skilled nursing and physical rehabilitation. In 2013, she transitioned from long-term skilled nursing to sub-acute in a hospital setting. This specialty is where she acquired skills in rehabilitation, which focused on surgical post-op, physical therapy, occupational therapy, acute and chronic disease
2 years later, in 2015, Ms. McCutchen switched specialties to emergency medicine where she remained for six years. She gained extensive training to evaluate, treat and manage emergent, acute, and chronic medical conditions to a variety of patient populations. She has also served as a preceptor for new graduates and mental health coordinator for a hospital-wide committee.

Her nurse practitioner experience includes medicated assisted treatment (MAT) and independent contracting. She now specializes in pain management and MAT and serves the community with which she is familiar. She provides quality care to patients to help them live a meaningful quality of life by managing their pain with a non-invasive approach.

Tristan Shockley, MD, is a sought after board-certified pain medicine doctor with a passion for helping men and women eradicate pain and restore their quality of life. He specializes in nonsurgical interventional pain medicine, prolotherapy, weight management, and physiatric treatments. His main office is at the CHOICE Pain & Rehabilitation Center office Dundalk, though he frequently meets with patients at their other Maryland locations in Olney, Rosedale, Hyattsville, Lanham, Pikesville, and Gaithersburg.

Equipped with the most advanced and innovative technologies, Dr. Shockley pinpoints the source of pain, makes a precise diagnosis, and treats the underlying issue with fluoroscopic and ultrasound-guided procedures. With an overarching goal to help men and women restore optimal function, Dr. Shockley dedicates much of his energy to patient education, preparing those he treats for regenerative physical therapy. 

After graduating magna cum laude with his bachelor’s degree from Howard University in Washington, D.C., Dr. Shockley entered Howard University College of Medicine, where he completed his medical degree. Following an internship in Arizona, he received specialty training at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore.
