Board-certified podiatrist Shweta Raina, DPM, brings considerable experience in podiatric medicine and orthopedic surgery to New York City Ankle & Foot serving men, women, and families at two locations in Jackson Heights and Woodside, Queens.
Dr. Raina was born in Srinagar, India. Her family immigrated to the United States in 1995 and settled in the suburbs of Washington, DC. Both of Dr. Raina’s parents were doctors. Growing up, she volunteered at several Virginia and DC-area hospitals before beginning her formal medical training.
Dr. Raina began her professional pursuits at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology. She subsequently enrolled at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, and obtained her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine.
Following graduation, Dr. Raina participated in a four-year podiatric residency at New York Hospital Queens in Flushing, New York. There, she trained in comprehensive conservative and surgical management of foot and ankle pathology. She also took in-house calls at a Level-I trauma center and performed surgery with podiatrists and foot and ankle orthopedists.
During her time as a resident, Dr. Raina also studied abnormal plantar skin temperatures in neuropathic patients, vascular malformations of the foot, and management of midfoot fracture-dislocations.
As a podiatrist, Dr. Raina has a warm and friendly demeanor. She believes in taking a “whole-body” approach to podiatry and considers each patients’ unique history and medical conditions, as well as their age and lifestyle before developing a treatment plan. Board-certified podiatrist, Rolando Melendez, DPM brings more than a decade of experience in podiatry and foot and ankle surgery to New York City Ankle & Foot. He serves men, women, and families at two convenient locations in Jackson Heights and Woodside Queens.
Dr. Melendez began his professional education at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in industrial microbiology. He subsequently moved to the United States and enrolled at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, where he earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine.
Following graduation, Dr. Melendez accepted a residency position at Millcreek Community Hospital in Erie, Pennsylvania. As a resident, Dr. Melendez trained extensively in all aspects of foot and ankle medicine and surgery. He also completed a Master’s Degree in medical education at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Before entering private practice, Dr. Melendez also served as a medical volunteer in Latin America on various mission trips.
Dr. Melendez has comprehensive knowledge and specialized training in all aspects of pediatric and adult lower extremity conditions. He specializes in reconstructive and trauma surgery of the foot and ankle as well as diabetic limb salvage. Thanks to the invisible stitch technique, Dr. Melendez can perform treatment with minimal scarring.

Dr. Sandeep "Sandee" Sandhu, DPM, is a highly trained foot and ankle surgeon providing podiatric care at Specialized Foot and Ankle Care with locations in Carteret, Perth Amboy, and Edison, NJ.
Dr. Sandhu received her bachelor’s degree in biology at Seton Hall University. She then earned her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) credential at Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine.
Dr. Sandhu went on to train at a comprehensive three year surgical residency at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ. This training placed an emphasis on minimally invasive surgical techniques, lower extremity trauma, reconstructive and elective surgery. In her last year, she served as academic chief resident; she was active in both presenting research at podiatric conferences and also attending educational podiatric courses.
Dr. Sandhu still pursues continuing podiatric education to maintain her advanced podiatry credentials. She specializes in elective minimally invasive surgery, sports medicine injuries and prevention, foot and ankle trauma and general clinical podiatry care. Ankur Bahri, DPM, is a skilled, board-certified podiatrist at Specialized Foot and Ankle Care in Carteret, Perth Amboy, and Edison, New Jersey. He has over nine years of experience in podiatric surgery and medicine in hospital and outpatient settings.
Dr. Bahri is multilingual, speaking Hindi, English, and Punjabi. He graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Toronto. He obtained his podiatric medicine and surgery credential from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine.
Dr. Bahri completed a three-year podiatric medicine and surgery residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. He’s certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. He is an attending physician at Hackensack Meridian Health Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy and Hudson Regional Hospital in Secaucus, New Jersey.
