Dr. Lenertz received his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery from Des Moines, University. Upon graduation, he completed his residency at St. Mary Mercy and St. Joseph Hospitals outside of Detroit, Michigan. There, he was elected Chief Resident by his peers and attending physicians.
After residency, Dr. Lenertz became one of very few physicians to complete a year-long fellowship in advanced reconstructive foot and ankle surgery.

David Waters, DPM, is a foot and ankle surgeon and the founder of Platte River Foot & Ankle Surgeons.
Dr. Waters started Platte River Foot and Ankle Surgeons to provide comprehensive state-of-the-art solutions to foot and ankle pain for his patients. He also felt there was an unmet need for bringing the highest quality of foot and ankle care to the state of Nebraska.
Dr. Waters chose to be a foot and ankle surgeon because he enjoys helping patients live without foot and ankle pain. Before starting Platte River Foot and Ankle Surgeons, Dr. Waters worked for the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Michigan. While there, he taught and trained the resident surgeons for three years. He was involved in developing new minimally invasive techniques and three-dimensional bunion correction. Additionally, Dr. Waters specializes in total ankle replacement to help those suffering from ankle pain from arthritis maintain a high quality of life. Although he specializes in foot and ankle surgery, Dr. Waters has a comprehensive approach to foot and ankle pain, offering the least invasive, conservative treatments before proceeding with surgery when necessary.
Dr. Waters received his undergraduate degree in microbiology from Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. He received a doctorate in podiatric medicine from Kent State University in Independence, Ohio, where he served as president of his class and graduated as a member of the Phi Delta Honor Society. He then went to St. John Hospital and Medical Center, in Detroit, for three years of residency. There he served as the chief podiatric surgical resident and received advanced training in both non-surgical and surgical management of foot and ankle disorders and deformities, including total ankle replacement. He also received training in diabetic foot care, wound care, and limb salvage procedures.
He is board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery in foot, rearfoot and ankle reconstructive surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and a diplomate of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery.
Dr. Waters's goal is to keep the population up and active without foot and ankle pain. He provides a full range of foot and ankle care, from non-surgical care and basic foot and ankle questions to advanced reconstruction of foot and ankle deformity.

My current professional interests revolve around advanced nerve reconstructive techniques for the treatment of chronic foot and leg pain. While I believe that most conditions can be addressed with conservative care, I am also fortunate to have training that allows me to deliver advanced treatment techniques including the use of PRP and Stem cell injections, as well as reconstructive techniques such as external fixation, lower extremity plastics and arthroscopic modalities.
Other areas of interest include the treatment of traumatic injuries, post-traumatic reconstruction, treatment of the adult flatfoot, sports medicine injuries and treatment of ankle and foot deformities.
I am glad that you have found our website. Whether you are looking for new ways to relieve foot pain or are looking for a podiatrist to treat your foot pain, you have come to the right place. I have dedicated my career to providing my patients with the best and most up to date care .
