About Dr. Ivor Benjamin, MD

Dr. Ivor Benjamin specializes in minimally invasive surgery using the da Vinci surgical robot, and has performed more than 2,750 complex robotic gynecologic surgeries for both cancer and non-cancerous conditions.

Dr. Benjamin joined Arizona Center for Cancer Care in 2012. He received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees, respectively, in Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. Dr. Benjamin attended medical school at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. He completed both his internship and residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He then completed a three-year fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology in the Department of Surgery at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. Following this, he returned to Philadelphia where he served as Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Currently, Dr. Benjamin is an Associate Clinical Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Arizona College of Medicine.

Specializing in minimally invasive surgery using the da Vinci surgical robot, and has performed more than 2,500 complex robotic gynecologic surgeries for both cancer and non-cancerous conditions. He serves as a robotic surgery proctor for training and skills certification of other surgeons throughout the country for Intuitive Surgical on the da Vinci Surgical System. Dr. Benjamin is also a proctor and trainer for Plasma Surgical on their PlasmaJet system.

Dr. Benjamin is board certified by American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology and has a Subspecialty Certification in Gynecologic Oncology. He has been named in the Guide to America’s Top Oncologists, a multi-year Top Doc in US News and World Report and awarded for his work by the National Cancer Institute, American Cancer Society, Columbia College of Physicians & Surgeons and University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, among others.

Dr. Benjamin is a multi-year “Top Doc” honoree by Phoenix Magazine.
