Dr. Thoppil was absolutely wonderful! The best doctor visit I have EVER experienced. He took the time and kind, comfortable approach to explain thoroughly my concerns and health symptoms. He went beyond making the first Obgyn expeShow morerience understandable and educational, along with making it very comfortable. I left there with an absolute decision to go to him for all of my future health needs and visits. If only he could be my family doctor too! Hands down, best medical experience between his helpful, friendly staff and his great experience as a Obgyn doctor. I was referred to him by a coworker that chose Dr. Thoppil for her gynecologist, planning for a pregnancy, child birth, and after. I thought.. that's incredible, convenient, and easy on a new mother/current mother. She was very enthusiastic about sharing her experiences she had with his facility, staff, and his work. After my appointment, he asked out of curiousity, if I was recommended by someone, and I told him my co-workers first name. He knew right off the bat who had recommended me. How often is a practice that friendly and personal with their patients? So lastly, I do recommend his practice, because I have never had such a good experience in my life. Having moved from Houston at the end of my second trimester I struggled a bit to find an OBGYN that I was comfortable with and also a practice that was more about the patient and less about being a business (my Houston doctor thouShow moregh was good and belonged to an all female OBGYN group, the billing and general coding of visits was a constant issue because they were incapable of clarifying procedure code usage...also recommended procedures were always performed without consent in the name of 'mandatory' steps thereby making the patient think it is covered by insurance). At Riverplace OBGYN I feel it is very much a 'people based' practice where they treat people and are not only money minded. The level of care and steps taken to clarify details is exceptional. I am enjoying being taken care by a smaller team with such a high quality of care.
Dana recently joined River Place OB/GYN as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. She comes to us with 15 years of women’s health experience, previously working as a labor and delivery nurse supervisor with Drs Shepherd and Thoppil. She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison (Go Badgers!) and did her Masters of Nursing at South Alabama.
Dana believes that a balanced and holistic approach to healthcare is important in maintaining wellness. While she offers care for women across the lifespan, she has a particular interest in the healthcare needs of teenagers as well as sexual wellness and low libido concerns for all women.
In her spare time she loves hiking, football and spending time with her son Henry and daughter Lauren.
