First let me say that I have migraines with aura, which I have had for nearly twenty years. Over the last 12 or 13 years I have tried different types of oral contraceptives and have been taking the same one for the past five yearsShow more: Beyaz 28. For my annual exam, as a new patient with AA OB-GYN, I saw Dr Uribe's nurse practitioner, Natalie. Out of all the OB practitioners I have seen over the years, only two have addressed the fact that I frequent migraines with aura. Which, for those who do not know, puts me at an extremely high risk for having a stroke when combined with progestin-containing oral contraceptives. I am 31-years old, I watch my weight, and I do not smoke. I thought these reasons would be enough to decrease my risk of having a stroke; but that was not enough for Natalie. She and I had a very sincere discussion about other birth control options for me. She mentioned having an IUD placed, such as Mirena or Nexplanon. She gave me the appropriate documents and brochures (it's free with the Affordable Care Act!) And she even gave me a list of known and trusted neurologists to do a complete migraine work up. I can honestly say, I had never before thought twice about getting an IUD. Truthfully, nobody had ever spoken so sincerely about it before either. But I did more research and it DID sound like the best option for me. I trusted Natalie very much just from our one conversation. I made a call and scheduled the placement for today. Now I would be lying if I said today was a really fun day at the gyno. Haha. It certainly was not. The wait was long, but that's always to be expected in the world of labor and delivery. I came prepared with my book so I was set. I didn't mind the wait because once I got to a room and saw the doctor, everything was ready to go and I was the priority in that moment. I had never met Dr Uribe before today. After meeting with him I felt like I had known him for years. He is an incredible physician with the best bedside manner. The wait really was worth it because I knew I was in excellent hands and my decision was very well informed. The procedure itself was like a Pap smear: Short and minimally invasive. There was one moment of intense pain that made me feel like I was going to pass out. But it was over in a second. And I'm probably being dramatic haha. I felt pretty dizzy for a while and almost thought I was going to faint. But those feelings subsided after 1/2 an hour. I got home and ate lunch, took some Advil, and had a nap. Now I feel fine. Not even feeling crampy. Just bloated like I am PMSing. Overall, I am very pleased that I went to AA OBGYN for my annual exam this year. Dr Uribe and his entire staff have been extremely professional, respectful, caring and sincere from the moment I first walked in. I could have been seen as just an otherwise healthy, athletic, 31-year old female with no children... However, they saw me as much more than that. I have not said it yet but I am incredibly grateful to Natalie for taking the time to speak with me at our first encounter. It means the world to me. Now to see the neurologist and get these migraines fully worked up.
I love Dr. Phillips. He has great energy. He delivered my third baby and then I went to him 7 months postpartum to have surgery for a prolapse issue. I came away from surgery with wonderful results! I couldn't be happier with my cShow morehoice to be a patient of Dr. Phillips. When it came to delivering my third baby, Dr. Phillips asked me about my plans for pain management during labor. It was the first time I had a care provider ask me about my plans and expectations. When I shared with him how I wanted an epidural, but I did not like how past epidurals left me so numb I can't feel my legs and get leverage to push. He said....and it was so simple..."just tell the anesthesiologist your concerns and they can give you a lighter epidural." I had no idea this was a request I could make. I had no idea I could go "lighter" on my epidural. It was great. I did as Dr. Phillips said and the anesthesiologist was more than happy to help me out. He gave me a lighter epidural that took the edge off the pain, but allowed me to feel the urge to push and use my legs to gain leverage. Great experiences all around. I also love the staff at AAOBGYN as well as St. David's North. The nurses are amazing!
Dr. Marco Uribe’s gynecological practice at Austin Area OB/GYN focuses on preventive care, preconceptual counseling, infertility, menopause, and the diagnosis and management of pelvic prolapse and urinary incontinence. This includes urodynamic testing to better determine the specific causes of voiding dysfunction. He has also been working with bio identical hormone therapy for over 20 years, and focuses on replacement therapy that helps restore a woman’s hormone balance with the intent of achieving a better quality of life.
Dr. Uribe has an interest in both high-risk and low risk obstetrics. He has also had extensive experience in minimally invasive surgery including performing complex procedures with hysteroscopy and laparoscopy, which significantly reduce postoperative recovery time.
He is assisted in his office practice by his physician assistant Amy Grove, who is a graduate of Medical College of Georgia. Amy has a special interest in polycystic ovarian syndrome and infertility. His practice is also complemented by his NP/CNM Natalie Carreras who trained at Emory University. Natalie has a special interest in bio identical hormone replacement therapy.
Dr. Marco Uribe is a native of Laredo, Texas where he grew up as the only son among seven sisters. He received his undergraduate degree from Yale University. He obtained his Medical Doctorate from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas where he was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine affiliated hospitals in Houston where he served as Chief Resident. He began his practice at AAOBGYN in 1994 after spending several years at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic in Houston where he served as Assistant Chief of OB/GYN.
Dr. Uribe is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and he is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is also a member of the Texas Medical Society, the Travis County Medical Society, and a number of specialty related organizations. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Physician Distribution and Healthcare Access Committee of the TMA. He has held a clinical faculty position at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, and he has received numerous faculty of the year teaching awards for surgical instructional training. His clinical skills have been recognized by numerous organizations and periodicals including Austin Monthly, Austin Fit, and Texas Monthly.
He and his wife Melissa have a very close knit family. He enjoys raising horses, ranching, fishing, and watching his sons participate in numerous sports activities.
Dr. Uribe and several members of his staff are fluent in Spanish.

I am 64 years old. I have seen Dr. Marco Uribe for approx 10 yrs. My only regret is that I didn't find him sooner; when I was of childbearing age. I have recommended him and will continue to do so.
I have been seeing Dr. Uribe and his staff for many years and I recommend constantly to other ladies with PCOS looking for a doctor's office that listens and cares. I love all of the staff here and Dr. Uribe is such a great doctor and surgeon. I feel safe in his care!
