During my second visit on 8/15/19 Dr. Budoff reviewed my CT scan which indicated 35% bone loss in the PIP joint & osteoarthritis. He suggested two surgical options for the correction of traumatic Swan neck deformity - #1. Joint Show morereplacement #2. Fusion. He then injected steroids in the IP and PIP joints to reduce pain & swelling. While injecting steroids he discovered my little right finger had significant scar tissue in the PIP joint then explained surgical complications caused by scar tissue. Upon my third visit on 9/12/19 - my PIP joint had collapsed, the Swan neck deformity went from 29% to 32% with zero movement, thus he could no longer perform the joint replacement. Dr. Budoff gave me a compassionate explanation why only a fusion is possible. He is understanding, supportive and kind knowing I fractured my finger in multiple places on 2/11/19. He is sympathetic and wants to perform the best surgical repair. Dr. Budoff knows the pain I’ve endured with pinning stabilization surgery, difficult pin removal & closed contracture release by another Hand Surgeon 7 months ago. Though he can’t return movement to my finger I understand why.

Dr. De Young received his Bachelor of Science degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Houston in 1972. He trained locally, completing medical school, a neurology internship and his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.

Always a pleasure to see Dr. DeYoung for whatever my problem might be. No matter how bad the pain is,it gets better just talking about it. ( even though surgery might be the solution) I’ve been his patient for many years. My husband and daughter feel the same way I do because he’s their doctor also

Dr. DeYoung takes time to talk and listen to his patients and their concerns. He does not come into the room and asks you only a few questions then diagnose your situation. Excellent service
Dr. De Young took exrays of my lower spine and leg areas to try to confirm what was causing my pain in my lower back area, right hip and right thigh. He discussed possible sources or causes and prescribed pain medication which did help a lot. He always takes the time to arrive at a result. Never feel rushed.
