Yasser co-Founded Brooklyn Urgent Care in 2015 with his brother, Dr. Ashraf Salem, with a mission of delivering people-centered healthcare to underserved communities. Yasser overseas all non-clinical aspects of the company and works closely with local and international private and public sector leaders to help ensure Brooklyn’s healthcare needs are addressed. Prior to BKUC, Yasser was a leader in McKinsey & Company’s Global Public Sector and Healthcare Practices. Previously, he was a member of the firm's Corporate Finance & Strategy Practice in New York City.
Yasser worked for several investment firms, including 3G Capital, where he was based in New York City, and Abraaj Capital, where he was based in Dubai. He founded and served as Managing Partner of The S&T Group, an executive coaching and search firm with offices in New York City, Dubai and Cairo.
Starting his career on Wall Street, Yasser worked at Salmon Smith Barney and Merrill Lynch.
For nearly two decades, Yasser has served as a change agent in New York City, serving to integrate diverse communities. From 2003 to 2007, Yasser was part of Sponsors for Educational Opportunity Programs (SEO), and organization which provides superior educational and career programs to young people from underserved and underrepresented communities. During this period, Yasser also co-Founded the Foundation for Knowledge & Development (FKAD), a non-profit organization which educates the New York City community on Arabic language and Islamic Studies.
Recognized as a Master Facilitator at McKinsey & Company, Yasser has a deep passion for supporting inner transformation and bringing diverse communities together. He is a frequent keynote and guest speaker at healthcare and public conferences, leads several interfaith initiatives and actively participates in facilitating leadership development programs across the globe.
Yasser currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Bedford-Stuyvesant Volunteer Ambulance Corps. He is also on the Advisory Board of New York Community Hospital and recently completed two consecutive terms of service on the Harvard Arab Alumni Association Board of Directors.
Yasser holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Accounting from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University, where he was part of the Honors Program and President of Beta Alpha Psi, the largest student-run organization on campus. He has an MBA from Harvard Business School (HBS), where he worked on independent research with Dean Nitin Nohira (Dean of HBS) and Professor Clayton Christensen (the architect and world's foremost authority on disruptive innovation).
