I've been blessed to enjoy a career spanning 40 years in nursing with 25 years in advanced practice as a clinical specialist in the adult psychiatric population in a variety of clinical settings. In-patient acute psychiatry, addiction treatment centers, outpatient psychotherapy as well as a professor of psychiatric nursing. Many of my more recent years have been spent working as a consultant for a large psychiatric practice. Having arrived at the golden years of my career with decades of experience, opening my own private practice was the next logical step. Naika is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with ten years of experience providing therapy, treatment, and services to children, youth, and families. Using a trauma-informed and culturally-sensitive lens, she has worked with individuals presenting with intellectual and developmental disabilities, ADHD, depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma- and stressor-related disorders, and personality disorders. As a social worker, Naika has provided treatment in community-based organizations, residential treatment programs, and in the home setting, often working with the underrepresented and underserved. She believes that everyone has a right to emotional wellbeing, and strives to empower others to develop and maintain a sense of self.
