It is hard to sum up a bio in such limited character space, but to be concise and focused, I am here to serve in psychiatry, I believe mental health healing can occur, with both medication and psychotherapy, or one or the other. Under my care, I will have an open conversation with patients about their diagnoses, educate them, as well as offer psychotropic medication depending on the severity. I am a firm believer in aiming for PROGRESS not perfection, and I encourage patients to be patient with themselves, since perfection is not possible and that all we can do is one step at a time. Upon choosing medication I always take the whole person into consideration and do my best to minimize the amount of medications needed to prescribe. I stay on top of the most recent literature as much as possible, and will sometimes share my notes from recent lectures with patients. My goal is to walk alongside my patients for mental healing, never ahead or above them.
I'm a fully licensed Physician Assistant in the State of Texas. My goal and passion are to help individuals (Pre-teen and above) find and regain their sense of self again, using my extensive background and experiences I've encountered in the field of medicine and working as an EMT-Basic & Paramedic, ER Medic at BAMC/SAMMC, Primary Care PA, Internal Medicine PA, and as a PA at San Antonio Behavioral Hospital. Those experiences and exposures to different types of people ranging from the underserved to suburban areas, prepared me well to be in-tune with others' feelings emotionally, cognitively and physically.
As a Psychiatric Physician Assistant here with Northridge Behavioral Health, I work within a Care Team service model which gives you the patient, access to the treatment options and support you need. Additionally, my goal is to strive and inspire hope, sense of empowerment to overcome your obstacles, and provide you the patient with the quality mental health care that you deserve.
“Anthony Okafor, at Northridge Behavioral Health Center in San Antonio TX, does a very credible job as a psychiatric care provider. He's reasonably thorough, thoughtful and interested in the particular circumstances of my life and situation which has allowed him to initiate a good treatment plan for me.”
Dr Ajufo is fully licensed in state of Texas and accepting NEW patients. She is experienced in working with a diverse population of motivated patients. She provides high quality, comprehensive, compassionate and patient focused care for patients 6yrs AND ABOVE. Focusing on the whole person Dr Ajufo works with the patient to develop individualized treatment plans.
“I find Ms. Ajufo to be very kind and attentive. She listens carefully to everything you say, provides appropriate responses, and offers honest feedback in a constructive manner. I have not encountered anything objectionable in my interactions with her. Her final words are always insightful, presenting options that help clear any confusion. I highly recommend her.”
I am a psychiatrist Board certified in both Adult and Child/Adolescent Psychiatry. I have practiced in San Antonio, Texas for the past ten years.
My outpatient practice will serve families who deal with psychiatric concerns of mood, disruptive behaviors, and difficulties in learning and school performance. While the patient is always the primary focus of any treatment, the family as a whole will be supported and counseled in ways to best deal with the stressors they face. Patients will receive care that incorporates both the most modern of psychiatric medication and counseling to improve coping skills and improve family relationships.
I was raised in San Antonio and then went to SMU in Dallas where I graduated with a degree in Computer Engineering. I then attended UTMB in Galveston where I completed medical school and my psychiatric residency. I returned to San Antonio where I have served as an attending psychiatrist at Laurel Ridge Treatment Center.
