Born and raised in the Houston area, she earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Tulsa. She worked in the Texas Medical Center as an RN before attending medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. This unique background has given her an appreciation for healthcare at all levels, and the understanding of a collaborative approach to patient care.
Dr. Gibson completed orthopaedic residency at Orlando Health, a high volume hospital, which provided a broad educational base. During her time in Orlando, she served as administrative chief resident, and also earned the Resident Community Service Award for her work on a public service campaign to raise awareness of firework related injuries.
She then went on to complete Hand & Upper Extremity Fellowship at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, which included microvascular and peripheral nerve surgery. After fellowship, she worked in private practice in Tupelo, MS. Dr. Gibson and her family are thrilled at the opportunity to return to Texas. She is a member of several professional organizations including Texas Medical Association, American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society.
At Northeast Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, Dr. Gibson specializes in the treatment of traumatic and degenerative conditions of the upper extremity including trigger finger, carpal tunnel, cubital tunnel, peripheral nerve injury, ganglion cyst, tendon problems, sport injuries, hand and wrist arthritis, Dupuytren’s disease, and fracture management. She appreciates the beneficial impact surgery can have, but believes that nonsurgical treatments including therapy, injections, and activity modification should be attempted first. Dr. Gibson prides herself in building a patient specific treatment plan to best meet the patients’ needs.
