Dr. Alevizos earned his Bachelor of Science in biology from Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois. He then received his master’s degree from the University of Illinois, also in Chicago, before attending Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine for his medical degree. Many people ask Dr. Lee why he chose to be a gastroenterologist, and for him the answer is simple: Instead of choosing this field, he thinks, more accurately, it chose him. He grew up with a close family member with Crohn’s disease. At that time, there were fewer options to treat this chronic disease, and he saw how it affected not only her body but also her mind and spirit. This sparked his passion. Gastroenterology is a great field to not only treat diseases but also to prevent them, which he finds incredible.

To achieve his goal of becoming a gastroenterologist, Dr. Lee earned his Doctor of Medicine from the George Washington University Medical School, and then went on to earn his Master of Public Health from the University of California School of Public Health. He completed his residency at the University of Southern California, followed by a fellowship in gastroenterology/hematology. He is board-certified in gastroenterology/hepatology and internal medicine.

As part of his work, Dr. Lee knows that diseases can present in different ways because every human is unique. He seeks to understand that uniqueness and uses it as a tool to better his patients’ health. Dr. Oman attended medical school at the University of Utah. He completed his residency at the University of Colorado and completed his fellowship in  Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) at Loma Linda University. He is board-certified in gastroenterology/hepatology and internal medicine.

When Dr. Oman entered medical school, many of his classmates knew the specialty they wanted to work in. However, he had an open mind and was excited to be exposed to the various specialties of medicine. When the time came to decide, he had noticed that he was most interested and happy when encountering patients with gastroenterology and hepatology health issues. While he is fascinated with the pathophysiology and medical side of this specialty, it was the technical, hands-on, endoscopic aspect that solidified his decision. 

He was amazed as a medical student the first time he saw a bleeding gastric ulcer treated endoscopically. While training in fellowship, he could see how endoscopy is much more and can relieve a variety of issues and symptoms for patients, from removing a gallstone lodged in the bile duct, opening a stricture in the esophagus so a patient can swallow again or draining a cyst through endoscopic ultrasound.

Dr. Oman has interests in colorectal cancer prevention and diagnosis, stomach and esophageal disorders, small bowel disorders, as well as pancreas and biliary disorders, which include advanced pancreatic and biliary diagnosis and intervention (ERCP, EUS). 

Throughout his career, he has earned numerous awards, including the Resident Consultant of the Year (Loma Linda Family Medicine) and the Internal Medicine Subspecialty Fellow of the Year (Loma Linda Internal Medicine). He is also a member of several organizations, including Alpha Omega Alpha, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterology Association, and the Southern California Society of Gastroenterology.

He spends his time away from work with his wife and young son but still tries to go hiking, mountain biking, and indoor rock climbing.

Heba Ashraf, MD, FACP is a gastroenterologist at Digestive Disease Consultants of Orange County with locations in Irvine, Huntington Beach, Tustin and Foothill Ranch, California. She is dual board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

She specializes in management of a wide array of gastrointestinal diseases including GERD, liver diseases/cirrhosis and inflammatory bowel disease. In addition to performing diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower endoscopy, Dr. Ashraf also performs High Resolution Manometry, EndoFlip, pH testing and Capsule endoscopy.

She is a member of American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) and American Association for the study of Liver Diseases (AASLD).

Dr. Ashraf grew up in New Jersey spending her days either at the shore or in the nearby cities. She went to Rutgers University then completed her medical school at Baqai Medical University in Pakistan. She completed her internal medicine residency at Beaumont Hospital in Michigan. After residency she became one of the first GI hospitalists at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. She then completed her GI fellowship at Michigan State/Ascension Providence Hospital.

She developed an interest in gastroenterology and nutrition early in her medical training. She has a fond interest in women’s health and prevention of gastrointestinal cancers. She believes her role as a physician is to provide her patients with accurate information and work as a team to accomplish their goals and improve overall health and well-being.

Dr. Ashraf has earned numerous awards throughout her medical career including Wayne State University Resident teaching award, Beaumont Resident Research Day Winner, and ACG Outstanding Poster Presenter.
