Meliana Trinidad, MD, is board-certified in neurology and internal medicine. She works with patients at The Neurology Institute in Coral Springs and Sunrise, Florida. Paul Marsden Murry, MD is a well-established Internal Medicine Doctor who has been practicing since 1987. His background in Internal Medicine provided expertise in a wide variety of conditions including Asthma, Emphysema, Diabetes, Heart Conditions, Gastrointestinal Syndromes, and Arthritic diseases. Although English, he was born and raised in the Philippine Islands to American and British parents. There, he attended The University of the Philippines, who awarded him a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. Mark Akselrud, MD, is a board-certified Internist, Primary Care Doctor, serving South Florida with his office located in Tamarac. Kelli Lugo is a Physician Assistant with a lifetime interest in health, fitness and nutrition. She loves working with individuals to help them achieve their health goals and decrease the risk for disease associated with obesity and malnutrition. Kelli has been a Physician Assistant for over 20 years. She started her career in general surgery, which included assisting in bariatric weight loss surgery, and she was trained in managing patients on total parenteral nutrition (TPN). She has extensive experience in surgical specialties of hand, foot and ankle surgery, spine surgery, sports medicine and total joint replacement. Through her work as a Physician Assistant, she incorporates her passion for health maintenance into improving her patients' post-operative outcomes. 

When she isn't working, Kelli can be found spending time with her family and friends. She enjoys running, traveling and diving into a good book. 

 

Sean Bannister is a Physician Assistant and serves as the primary clinician at KairWell Weight and Wellness. Sean has over 30 years of medical and leadership experience. He started his career as a military Physician Assistant where he was responsible for the health and wellness of over 3000 soldiers and their families and later specialized in heart and lung surgery. Upon his retirement from the military he went on to earn a Master of Business Administration degree and certification as a health coach. Sean enjoys writing on the subject of health and wellness. Megan James, PA-C, is a board-certified Physician Assistant with over 15 years of clinical experience. She sees patients via telehealth at KairWell Weight and Wellness, which is based in Davie, Florida. 

Megan earned her bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology, where she developed a strong foundation in fitness, nutrition, and preventive health. Megan then began her physician assistant career in 2010, specializing in orthopedic surgery with a focus on total joint replacement and orthopedic trauma. During this time, she frequently worked with patients who needed to achieve weight loss goals in order to medically qualify for joint surgery. That experience deepened her interest in weight management and preventive care, particularly for patients struggling with obesity.

Now transitioning into the field of weight and wellness medicine, Megan is committed to helping individuals overcome the disease of obesity and achieve sustainable, healthy lifestyles. Her approach is rooted in evidence-based care and a deep desire to empower patients to take charge of their health. Dr. Seung Kang studied Biochemistry then worked in a biotechnology company in California prior to her medical school. Dr. Kang received a doctor of osteopathy (D.O.) degree from Nova Southeastern University and graduated from internal medicine residency training in Plaza Medical Center of Fort Worth, Texas in 2008. Rene A. Reyes, MD, is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and has more than 20 years of clinical experience. Before attending medical school, Dr. Reyes earned a bachelor’s degree from Barry University in Miami, Florida. He went on to earn his Medical Degree from the Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico, and was also formally involved in research at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at New York University Downtown Hospital in New York City.

Dr. Reyes practices preventative healthcare and offers proactive, attentive outpatientcare. Anthony B. Lewis MD, FACC, is certified in both Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. With over 35 years of experience in Cardiovascular Disease, he currently sees patients at TLC Medical Group Inc in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Dr. Lewis was born in North Carolina and is a graduate of Oakwood College in Huntsville, Alabama. He earned his medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, and completed his fellowship in cardiology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Lewis had the privilege of working side-by-side for interventional training with Dr. Tim Fischel, the inventor of the Cypher stent, at the University of Michigan.

Y. Joseph Usta, MD, was born in Iowa City, Iowa. He was raised on an American compound in Dhahran called Aramco and went to high school at a Department of Defense Navy base in Bahrain.  He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Arizona in Molecular and Cellular Biology and Chemistry. He did a year of GI research n pancreatic cell transplant at Emory University in Atlanta. He completed his medical school at the American University of Beirut (AUB). He did his Internal Medicine training at St. Joseph Hospital and Fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Arizona in Phoenix, Arizona. During his training he was selected as a fourth year Chief Resident in Internal Medicine and again selected to be Chief Fellow in Gastroenterology.

He also served as an Assistant Professor for both the University of Arizona and Creighton Medical Schools. Currently, Dr. Usta gives monthly lectures to residents and students at Wellington Reginal Medical Center and regularly has residents seeing patients with him in his clinic.

Dr. Usta is trained in all general GI but has a specific interest in liver diseases (Hepatology). He is very comfortable taking care of complex liver diseases including fatty liver, hepatitis B and C, cirrhosis, and getting patients ready for liver transplants consideration.

Dr Usta sees patients upstairs in the clinic and does procedures downstairs at the endoscopy center in the same building, cutting commute time and confusion for his patients. Some of the procedures he does include Upper Endoscopy (EGD), Screening Colonoscopy, and Capsules. He sees patients with Gastroesophageal Reflux (GERD), swallowing difficulties, and Barrett’s Esophagus. He regularly removes colon polyps during screening colonoscopies to help prevent colon cancer.

Hobbies

Dr. Usta has two daughters and a son, and a pet tortoise named “Tiki”. His hobbies include working out at Orang Theory, fishing, kayaking, biking, and any activity that includes the pool or beach. He is also not scared to try new foods from around the world. He loves gardening and has a few fruit trees that he manages in his backyard. He is currently taking online courses at Standford University on quantum physics for fun and loves to read books about history especially pertaining to World War I and II.
