Are you confused about where you are in life? You put in the work, but somehow, you always end up so far from your goals and who you want to be. Perhaps you’re struggling with maintaining positive self-worth and setting appropriate boundaries. You try to communicate your needs to your family and friends, but it’s not working. They just don’t listen – or perhaps they don’t understand. Either way, you and they just fall back into the same old routines. You try to leave the past in the past, but pain and old behaviors always seep back in. You want it to be different this time. You want help to make it different.
I want to give you the tools and space to confront yourself with grace. In our first session we will discuss where you are in life and why you are seeking therapy now. We will discuss who you are and what that means for you. We’ll discuss self-regulation, communication, and boundaries. I often use Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) in sessions.
Healing begins with awareness and understanding. Therapy provides resources to approach things from a different perspective so we can overcome difficulties. Therapy is essential to becoming who we want to be in this world. I meet my clients where they are and provide an authentic environment that allows freedom to be open, honest, and vulnerable without judgment. Like you, I am human, so I understand that life gets messy. My commitment is to understand you and your individual experiences, and then we can explore possible solutions together.
As a marriage and family therapist, I have experience working with various relational issues. I have a background in social work and behavioral counseling, which has shaped the approaches to therapy I utilize today. My approach is solution-focused and emotion-focused, which means we focus on solutions and pay attention to underlying emotions.
