The office itself was fine, Toni (receptionist) and Crystal (nurse) were very nice and helpful; Dr. Varna on the other hand was interruptive and did not make proper time for me to explain my issues. He made assumptions about my health based on my age and gender during our conversation, and I did not feel that I was able to properly explain myself to give him an accurate picture of the situation at hand. The conversation was continuously interrupted by Dr. Varna's questions, while i was mid-sentence, and I would get cut off before I finished my full thoughts. In the end, I was referred to see another kind of specialist, a month of yoga classes, and to come back in six weeks if my situation hasn't improved which, for $350, is an absolute disgrace. This conclusion would’ve sufficed if I felt he had a comprehensive idea of the issue, but I did not. I felt like this appointment was rushed and inconclusive, which I would never expect at such a high self-pay price. Being a young woman and having to work hard to advocate for yourself to doctors is already difficult as is, and Dr. Varna was unsuccessful in making me feel like my issues were heard and properly addressed. The ridiculous medical bill just adds insult to injury. I will not be returning to this center and I would not recommend it to my friends or relatives. ”

Dr. Craig H. Dushey
Craig H. Dushey, MD, is a highly skilled and highly trained orthopedic surgeon at Manhattan Orthopedics. Dr. Dushey completed his orthopedic training at Yale and his fellowship training at the Hospital for Special Surgery. He specializes in hip and knee surgery, primary and revision total joint replacements and treatments for sports injuries and arthritis.
Dr. Dushey is strongly committed to patient education and provides customized treatment plans that respond to the specific needs and expectations of his patients. Dr. Dushey engages in both teaching and research and uses the most up-to-date techniques and technologies when treating his patients.
Dr. Dushey received his undergraduate degree from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. He earned his medical degree from Yale School of Medicine, where he graduated with honors. He completed his postdoctoral training in orthopedic surgery at the Yale Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, where he served as chief resident. Dr. Dushey then completed his fellowship training in adult reconstructive surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
In addition to serving his patients, Dr. Dushey helps train future physicians in New York City as an assistant clinical professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in Manhattan. He has published scientific papers on complex hip reconstructions, strategies to avoid blood clots after surgery, and rare genetic bone problems. He has won numerous awards and has been featured in the New York Times “Best Doctors” supplement. In his spare time, Dr. Dushey enjoys tennis, skiing, and film, as well as doing volunteer work.

Dr. Michael J. Kaplan is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in sports medicine and total joint replacement. Though his practice at Active Orthopaedics, Dr. Kaplan offers expert treatment options for knee injuries and arthritis, including ACL reconstruction, meniscal repair, unicondylar knee replacement, and revision and primary total knee replacement. In addition, he has extensive expertise in the treatment of shoulder injuries, including rotator cuff tears and shoulder instability. He offers personalized treatment plans to meet the specific needs of each patient, prioritizing getting his patients back to health quickly and safely.
Dr. Kaplan graduated from the University of Vermont College of Medicine in 1987 and completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery there in 1992. He then completed a fellowship in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine from the American Sports Medicine Institute with Dr. James Andrews and served as an NFL team physician from 1997-1998. Dr. Kaplan is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. He is an executive member of the Connecticut Orthopaedic Society and routinely named a “Top Doctor” in Connecticut by Connecticut Magazine. He can be seen on ESPN, serving as a senior medical correspondent, and is frequently invited to speak at regional and national conferences.

David Lent, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon at Doctors United, with offices in the West Farms and Wakefield neighborhoods in Yonkers, New York. He is highly trained in orthopedic surgery, with over two decades of experience in the field.
Dr. Lent earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in health science from Yeshiva University in New York City, New York, and received his medical degree at New York University School of Medicine in New York City, New York.
He completed an orthopedic residency program at Montefiore Medical Center in The Bronx, New York City, New York, and a sports medicine fellowship at Staten Island University Hospital in Staten Island, New York.
Dr. Lent enjoys helping his patients achieve exceptional musculoskeletal health and a better quality of life. Patients with sports injuries, work-related injuries, auto accident injuries, or age-related wear-and-tear rely on him to get back on their feet and make a full recovery.
Dr. Lent has numerous hospital affiliations in New York, including St. John’s Riverside Hospital in Yonkers, where he serves as Chief of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery; Montefiore Medical Center in The Bronx; St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Yonkers; and Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.
He also worked as a professor at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) in Erie, Pennsylvania, and was voted Top Doctor by Westchester Magazine and Castle Connolly Medical.
He maintains his advanced medical credentials with ongoing education in the latest advancements in orthopedic medicine. Dr. Lent is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and is a member of numerous medical organizations. Examples include the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and Westchester County Medical Society.
