Hui Kang, MD, is a board-certified pain management specialist and anesthesiologist with a contagiously positive demeanor. At Houston Pain Specialists, he compassionately creates custom treatment plans for patients in and around Houston who are managing short- and long-term pain. During his senior year at Texas A&M University, Dr. Kang earned the Faculty Achievement Award for his leadership skills and outstanding academic accomplishments. He went on to earn his medical degree in Lubbock, Texas, at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. Soon after graduating, he moved to Cleveland, Ohio, to complete his residency training and a fellowship in pain management at University Hospitals Case Medical Center, affiliated with Case Western Reserve University. There, he was doubly recognized for his excellence, named outstanding resident and then a chief fellow.
Today, Dr. Kang is board certified in both anesthesiology and pain medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology. He is a member of the Houston Pain Chapter of the Texas Pain Society as well as the Harris County Medical Society. During his time in Houston, he has earned the Top Doctor Houston Award for Anesthesiology and another award for consistently seeing his patients on time.
Dr. Kang enjoys learning about new advancements in his field to bring to his patients as well as writing his own articles for medical publications. He completed his medical education at Baylor College Medicine he went on to complete a fellowship at Rush Medical Center in Chicago. Prior to joining the practice, Dr. Wu was the director for the Geriatric Pain Center at UT Physicians Center for Healthy Aging as well as the chief interventional pain management physician at Memorial Hermann TIRR Center.

Irfan Lalani, MD, PA, is board certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and board certified in pain medicine by both the American Board of Anesthesiology and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is currently in private practice in Sugar Land, Texas.
Dr. Lalani graduated as a valedictorian from the Aga Khan University Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan. He then completed his residency in neurology at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
During this time, Dr. Lalani served as chief resident and had the distinct honor of placing first in a nationwide examination of neurologists in training. The Texas Neurological Society also conferred the prestigious Young Investigator Award for his innovative research efforts.
Dr. Lalani subsequently completed a fellowship in anesthesia and pain medicine at the University of Texas (UT) MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. After his fellowship, he joined the UT MD Anderson’s Department of Anesthesiology as an assistant professor in pain medicine. He has published numerous textbook chapters and papers in peer-reviewed journals addressing contemporary issues in pain management and neurology.
His unique background in neurology gives him an in-depth understanding of the structure and function of the nervous system. He uses these skills to perform detailed patient evaluations and formulate comprehensive diagnostic and treatment plans.
Dr. Lalani also has extensive experience in performing and teaching a variety of interventional pain treatments, including nerve blocks, botulinum toxin injections, epidural steroid injections, radiofrequency neurotomy, implantable nerve and spinal cord stimulators, as well as intrathecal pumps. Syed M. Nasir, MD, is an interventional pain management doctor at Skilled Pain Care Clinic in Houston and Katy, Texas. With more than 19 years of experience in academic institutions and private practice, Dr. Nasir offers a variety of pain treatments for his patients.
