Board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation and pain medicine, Ibrahim Oyowe, MD, is a fellowship-trained interventional spine and pain medicine physician with the orthopedic surgery team at Valdosta Orthopedic Associates in Valdosta, Georgia. Dr. Oyowe specializes in diagnoses and non-surgical treatments for pain problems affecting the spine, muscles, nerves, joints, and bones. After an internal medicine internship at the University of Chicago Medical Center, Dr. Oyowe went on to attend Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia to complete his residency in physiatry. He then pursued a fellowship in spine, sports, and musculoskeletal medicine at the Penn Spine Center in Philadelphia.
Dr. Oyowe has published works focusing on the non-operative management of cervical disc herniations, amongst other subjects.
James R. Goss, DO, specializes in orthopedic surgery at Valdosta Orthopedic Associates in Valdosta, Georgia. Dr. Goss’s area of interest includes sports medicine, arthroscopy of the shoulder, knee, and ankle, as well as total joint replacement of the shoulder, knee, and hip.
Dr. Goss was born in Fort Madison, Iowa. He attended the University of Iowa and Florida International University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in physical therapy in 1972. He received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 1979 from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internship in 1980 at the Staten Island Public Health Service Hospital in New York City and his residency in orthopedic surgery in 1984 at New York Medical College in Valhalla. Dr. Goss also completed a fellowship in pediatric orthopedics in 1985 at Cornell Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery and a member of the Southern Orthopaedic Association, the Eastern Orthopaedic Association, and the South Georgia Medical Society (Lowndes County).
Dr. Goss is married to Carmina Goss, and they have seven children: Nicole, Erica, Lisa, Jaime, Victoria, Rachael, and Adam. He is a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Dr. Goss is an active motorcycle enthusiast, outdoorsman, and loves spending time playing with his children.
Max S. Shokat, DO, is a board-certified pain management physician who serves patients at Southern Interventional Pain Center in Thomasville, Georgia, and Lake City and Tallahassee, Florida. He is passionate about caring for his patients with a whole-body approach, offering non-operative pain relief for a variety of conditions, and providing effective solutions.
Dr. Shokat received his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, New Jersey, now known as Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. He went on to complete a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, and a fellowship at the University of Florida Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Institute in Gainesville, Florida, specializing in the non-operative treatment of spine, joints, bones, muscles, and nerve pain.
He is board-certified by the American Board of Pain Medicine and the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Dr. Shokat began his medical career as a combat medic for the United States Army Reserves. Today he stays on the cutting-edge of his industry, conducting valuable research, presenting at conferences, and publishing articles in professional journals. Dr. Shokat has received many honors for his work and is an active member of several professional associations, including the American Osteopathic Association, Georgia Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, and Florida Osteopathic Medical Association.
Dr. Shokat is an active member of the Thomasville community, where he resides with his family.
