She values feedback, and she treats you as an equal. She never dismisses questions, and more importantly, she is NEVER dismissive! She will take the time to explain everything and make sure you are comfortable. Additionally, the diagnostic equipment available at AVOC is state of the art. My optomologist’s office isn’t even as well equipped, and he has a very large practice! I wear multifocal contacts and have a stigmatism & a growing cataract in one of my eyes, therefore the way I test may not be the RX that works for me in real life. She and I went through many trials in the office until we found the probable sweet spot. But she also fully understands that there may still be more tweaking when they are tested in real life, therefore I was also sent home with more trials for my problem eye, so we know the RX chosen will be the best one for me. The only criticism I have for AVOC is that their collection of frames is way too small (comparatively) and a little pricey, but they DO carry a large selection of frameless Silhouettes. I highly recommend Dr. Shields! You just can’t do any better than her!
