About James Hendricks, MD

James Hendricks, MD, FACS, is a highly experienced urologist at Hemet Valley Urological Medical Center in Hemet, California. Dr. Hendrick has extensive experience in all facets of male and female urology and has been in private practice since 2002. He always strives to treat all patients with compassion and respect, and tries to take the time to address any concerns. 

Dr. Hendricks grew up in the Central Valley and attended Occidental College in Los Angeles, California, where he graduated cum laude with a degree in biology. He then attended Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City for medical school, where he was introduced to the field of urology and became fascinated by it. He then did his six-year general surgery and urology residency at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, which is a very busy and active program providing extensive experience in every field of urology. 

Once he completed his residency, he was a urologist for the US Navy, spending two years at the US Naval Hospital in Yokosuka, Japan, followed by two years as Chief of Staff at Naval Medical Center, San Diego. He has been performing laparoscopic surgery since 2000 and robotic urology since 2003. He has served as a surgical proctor for robotic radical prostatectomy, teaching other urologists how to do the procedure and observing them. 

He also has proctored and run surgical workshops for prostate and kidney cryoablation of cancer, whereby urologists from all over the world have watched him do cases. He has treated a large volume of patients with kidney cancer with laparoscopic cryoablation and microwave ablation of kidney tumors, with a greater than 95 percent success rate at completely eradicating the tumors.

Dr. Hendricks has been treating patients not only requiring treatment of urological cancers but also those with benign urological conditions. He has been performing laser prostatectomy, specifically greenlight laser prostatectomy, since 2006 and is the first urologist on the West Coast to perform the procedure under local anesthesia in the office. He has run workshops for in-office laser prostatectomy since 2008 to train other urologists in this procedure. He also has a large experience in and proctored other physicians in pelvic floor repair and surgery for female stress incontinence. 

In his free time, Dr. Hendricks enjoys playing tennis, cycling, sailing, skiing, and snowboarding, and doing just about anything with his family.
