About Dr. Martin Newman, MD
Marty Newman, MD, is a board-eligible and DEA-licensed psychiatrist with nearly 20 years of experience. Dr. Newman works with patients at 2nd Chance Treatment Center in Phoenix, Glendale, and Gilbert, Arizona.
Dr. Newman is a proven leader in psychiatry. He develops clinical plans, performs assessments, delivers patient education, and provides medication management for those struggling with mental health disorders and alcohol and opioid dependency. He’s also licensed for Subutex® administration.
In 1986, Dr. Newman became the founder and executive director of an outpatient psychological and counseling practice in Phoenix. While there, he gained professional experience in counseling, psychometric testing, and mental health case management.
Dr. Newman obtained his undergraduate degree in microbiology from Arizona State University in Tempe in 1997. He earned his medical degree from MCP Hahnemann School of Medicine at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 2002.
Dr. Newman then relocated to New York City for his psychiatry residency at University Hospital of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, which he completed in 2007.
As an experienced and compassionate psychiatrist, Dr. Newman tailors treatment plans to suit every patient’s unique needs and goals. He diagnoses and treats a variety of mental health conditions, including bipolar disorder, depression and anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

2nd Chance stands up to it’s name! This is a compassionate and emphathic group who know you when you walk through the door. There is little to no attrition making it easy for me to remember their names. The doctors seem to be intuitive and knowledgeable about my concerns, my meds and my overall behavorial needs.
