About Mr. Charles Lyon, CADC
I began my career in the addiction field managing a non-profit treatment center in Seattle, Washington, the area I was born and raised. I chose the field due to being a recovering alcoholic that knows what it feels like to be stuck in the depths of addiction and knew that helping others is the path to freedom. I moved to North Carolina in the spring of 2012, became a substance abuse counselor and continued working with those with addiction in recovery housing, IOP programs and residential treatment. I found myself in the business development field and feel like I have found my true calling being able to continue having personal and professional insight as a recovering person and clinician yet getting the opportunity every day to speak with people in need, their families and other’s in the field of addiction that need support to best help those in need.

“Charles and his team were all very supportive and understanding with the situation you are in. They gave clear and concise instructions from the initial evaluation until the completion of the course. Reaching out and making themselves available for any questions or concerns I had even after completing the course. They sent the completed class to the DMV and insured it was accepted and told me as much. During a very stressful time the folks at New Hope were amazing putting my mind at ease!”

About Samuel Ortbal

Sam is an Associate Professional Counselor (pre-license Clinician) and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor with experience working with adults across the lifespan in a variety of settings, including Campus Counseling Centers, inpatient psychiatric centers, and outpatient therapy centers. Sam has also spent 8 years as an educational consultant and music instructor for several school districts across Pennsylvania.

So much of life's suffering comes not only from the events (traumas, grief, adjustment/transitions, pressure, stress), but our response to the events. Pain, rejection, avoidance, guilt, shame, anxiety, depression - we spend a great deal of time and effort attempting to escape from these places, and yet something truly powerful can happen when we begin to learn how to live functional, collaborative, fulfilling lives with them, rather than attempting to escape.

In our work together, the goal is to walk side-by-side toward a more fulfilling life! I believe that everyone's unique background, lifestyle, and psychological needs merit an individualized approach. I incorporate a variety of cognitive behavioral approaches into my work (ACT, DBT, CPT), and believe that there's a reason behind every action. As a clinician trainee, I take my continued education very seriously, and believe this is reflected in my detail-oriented approach to Therapy.

About Randall Potter
The human experience is profound, complex, and at times very challenging. In this experience, we all have a state of mental health, and my goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space to process this experience, explore yourself, and utilize your own insights, strengths, and skills to empower you toward achieving and maintaining optimal mental health and wellbeing. Through our therapeutic process, we can build an alliance in which you can cultivate healing, growth, increased coping and emotional regulation skills to find your inner peace. I utilize a strengths-based, client-centered approach based on a humanistic ideology viewing clients as complete human beings as a totality of mind, body, and soul. I employ an integrative and individually adaptable approach drawing from a range of evidence-based modalities including cognitive-behavioral therapy, existential talk therapy, and mindfulness.
