Dr. Burns is Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery and was one of the first Orthopedic Surgeons to be Board Certified in Sports Medicine. Dr. Burns was nominated for the Charles Neer award by the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Society for recognition of outstanding clinical or research investigation. He won the Dow Corning Wright Award presented by the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society for outstanding foot and ankle research. Dr. Burns won the Cabaud Memorial Award given by the American Orthopedic Society for sports medicine for outstanding research.
Dr. Burns is a team player, providing care for a number of teams and athletes. He has been the team physician for the Dallas Freeze of the Central Hockey League, the NAHL Texas Tornado Junior Hockey team, and the AFL Dallas Vigilantes. He has been the team physician for Plano East Senior High School for over 25 years and was recently inducted into the Athletic Hall of Honor for the Plano Independent School District. Dr. Burns has served as the orthopedic consultant for the Kurt Thomas Gymnastics since 2004. Dr. Burns currently serves as the Head Team Physician for the Frisco Fighters of the IFL, a professional indoor football team.
Dr. Burns has served as Chairman of Orthopedic Surgery at Presbyterian Hospital of Plano, Texas; Chief of Staff at Centennial Medical Center; and Chairman of the Board of the Surgery Centre at Craig Ranch as well as the Hospital at Craig Ranch. Dr. Burns has served as the Medical Director for the Craig Ranch Surgery Center since 2013. As a third-generation Texan, Dr. Donnally is compassionate to the needs of his community and the patients he serves in his native city of Dallas. He prides himself on performing the least invasive amount of surgery to alleviate a patient’s spinal pathology while concurrently accelerating their post-operative rehabilitation. Additionally, he stresses surgical techniques that minimize post-operative pain and medication use. While Dr. Donnally is passionate about minimally invasive surgery he is also committed to complex corrective procedures for adult spinal deformities.
Early in his career, Dr. Donnally placed an emphasis on medical research. His contribution of more than 70 peer-reviewed publications and a dozen book chapters has allowed him to be invited to many speaking engagements across the country to present his findings. He is dedicated to advancing the spinal community’s knowledge base through research and education. He continues to work with various scientific and product teams to identify modern techniques that will better diagnose spinal conditions and manage these pathologies.
A true local, Dr. Donnally graduated from Highland Park High School in Dallas and then earned Magna Cum Laude honors while at Southern Methodist University. While attending medical school at Texas Tech Health Science Center he graduated top of his class with a Distinction in Research. Dr. Donnally completed his Orthopaedic Surgery training at the University of Miami Hospital/Jackson Memorial Hospital. He continued his Spine Surgery training as a fellow at the world-renowned Rothman Institute in Philadelphia. He is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha honor societies.

Dovie McVean obtained her Bachelors of Science in Nutrition of Allied Health at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center in May of 1991. Ms. McVean earned her Masters of Science in Food Nutrition and Management at the University of Central Oklahoma in July of 1992 then went on to perform her Physician Assistant Preceptorship at Lutheran College of Health Professionals in Fort Wayne, Indiana between August 1995 and August 1997, where she graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Physician Assistant in August of 1997.
Ms. McVean has performed a variety of skills as a Physician’s Assistant over the last 22 years. She has triaged, diagnosed and treated illnesses and injuries from the neighborhood urgent care all the way to the emergency room. She has managed several clinical staff’s for 2 separate Orthopedic Clinics. She has performed as a first assistant in the operating room since 2001.

Charles E. Cook, MD, is a board-certified, highly regarded orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in foot and ankle orthopedic surgery.
