Athletes and other patients of all ages continually return to Dr. Markman for his expertise as well as his ability to compassionately treat each patient as if they were family. In 2016 and 2017, D Magazine named him among the best doctors in Dallas.
Dr. Markman received his medical education at the State University of New York and at the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University in Tel Aviv, Israel. After graduating with his doctorate of medicine, he moved to California for his surgery internship at the University of California at San Francisco. He stayed in San Francisco for his residency in orthopaedic surgery at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Then, Dr. Markman moved to Manhattan Beach, California, to complete a fellowship at the West Coast Center for Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. During his fellowship, he focused on sports medicine, arthroscopy, and shoulder, foot, and ankle surgeries.
Throughout his years of experience, Dr. Markman has been the team physician for the Tulsa Oilers of the East Coast Hockey League and the Tulsa Shock of the Women’s National Basketball Association in Oklahoma. Today, he continues to give athletes and other patients the gift of an active, comfortable life.

Jacob C. Becker, MD, is a fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon, specializing in hip and knee reconstruction at Texas Orthopaedic Associates. He sees patients at the Plano, Greenville Avenue, and Walnut Hill Lane locations in the Dallas metroplex area.
Dr. Becker graduated with honorsfrom Mississippi College, where he received a scholarship to play Division II football and earned a degree in Biomedical Sciences. He earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. After medical school, Dr. Becker completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at NYU Langone – Long Island in New York, and subsequently completed his fellowship training in adult reconstruction at the Carrell Clinic in Dallas, Texas.
Dr. Becker chose a career in hip and knee reconstruction for its unique ability to transform lives—relieving pain, restoring mobility, and empowering patients to return to the activities they love. With each patient, his goal is to restore not only function, but also confidence, comfort, and a fulfilling quality of life.
Dr. Becker is a member of both the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He specializes in the most advanced and up to date orthopaedic procedures available today, including minimally invasive anterior hip and quad-sparing knee replacements, partial knee replacement, periprosthetic fracture care, and complex revision hip and knee surgeries. He uses cutting-edge technologies—including artificial intelligence, robotics, computer navigation, and intraoperative imaging—to maximize surgical accuracy, precision, and safety.
When not caring for his patients Dr. Becker, a Texas Native, enjoys running, biking, fishing, and spending time with his lovely wife and their family in the great outdoors.
Umar Burney MD, MBA is the founding and managing partner at Orthopaedic Specialists of Dallas. He is dual board-certified in general orthopaedics and sports medicine surgery.
Dr. Burney was born in Madison, Wisconsin. His parents were both in the teaching profession and taught the importance of learning and education. Living abroad during high school, he had the unique opportunity to graduate with a secondary education certification from the University of Cambridge in England.
He returned to the University of Wisconsin in Madison to complete his undergraduate degree in medical microbiology and immunology with a special interest in communicative diseases of the third world.
Dr. Burney attended Saint George's University School of Medicine in True Blue, Grenada, and joined the Iota Epsilon Alpha International Medical Honors Society his sophomore year. He then completed his internship and orthopaedic surgical residency at Louisiana State University Shreveport, where he received several awards for excellence in basic science research and anatomy.
After graduating from LSU, Dr. Burney completed a sports medicine and joint replacement fellowship under the tutelage of Dr. Leland Winston and Dr. Thomas Clanton at the McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Burney has served on numerous committees throughout his career. His current roles include Joint Replacement Director and Vice Chair of the Board of Managers at Texas Health Surgery Center of Rockwall. His primary focus is sports medicine and joint replacement.
Dr. Burney is married to Nazlee, an elementary educator, and they share three children. He enjoys philanthropy, family time, traveling, running, and soccer in his spare time.
