I spent 14 years gaining clinical experience working with adolescent and adult inpatients and in emergency departments and correctional facilities. After helping people at the bedside and working with multidisciplinary teams treating various psychiatric disorders, I realized this was a passion for myself and thus decided to advance my career as a PMHNP-BC. I am committed to supplying personalized and comprehensive care. My practice follows evidence-based guidelines and uses clinical experience, personal observation, and intuition. At MWP we provide thorough psychiatric evaluations and an individualized medication management plan with special attention to one’s needs. MIU Center was created by Dr. Munachim Uyanwune in 2021. Dr. Uyanwune fondly known as “Dr. U” was inspired to create this practice in response to all the turbulent events in 2020, particularly the coronavirus pandemic, racial discrimination and the stigma associated with mental health. While growing up, Dr. Uyanwune saw untreated mental illness in her community. She learned that the impact of this extends wide, affecting the individual, their family and their community at large. Besides his Master of Science in Nursing, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, his career in nursing spans more than 18 years, working in a variety of settings. Paul applies a holistic approach to mental health care, which focuses on treating the whole person and not just the symptoms of the disease. His services include medication management and psychotherapy for multiple psychiatric pathologies ranging from depression to anxiety, to Bipolar, to PTSD, to schizophrenia and, ADHD, among others. Christine received her Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Delaware, specializing in psychiatry/mental health. Her doctoral project was on mindfulness in substance use disorders. Christine has worked in the outpatient mental health setting since 2019. During that time, she has treated patients with a variety of mental health conditions. Prior to working in the outpatient mental health setting, Christine was a critical care registered nurse rotating between five specialty intensive care units in a large health system. During this time, she helped treat and advocate for clients with acute and chronic psychiatric conditions in the setting of an acute medical illness. Christine sees patients of all ages and treats all mental health issues.
