Kelly Smith, MD, specializes in pediatric pulmonology and sleep medicine, and is a co-founder of Texas Pediatric Specialties and Family Sleep Center in the Alamo Heights, Shavano Park, and Lockhill-Selma areas of San Antonio, Texas. He has achieved fellowship designation in four areas of medical practice to include sleep medicine, pediatrics, pediatric pulmonology, and internal medicine. 

A New Braunfels native, Dr. Smith earned his undergraduate degree from Austin College in Sherman, Texas, and remained in the state to complete his medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He refined his skills and knowledge through an internship and residency at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington, where he was also appointed chief resident of internal medicine and pediatrics. 

Fellowship training in pediatric pulmonology at Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston came next, followed by research and training in sleep medicine through the Texas Children’s Sleep Center in San Antonio.

Alaa El-Gendy, MD, is an experienced pulmonologist and the founder of Florida Lung & Sleep Associates in Lehigh Acres and Fort Myers, Florida. He is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary diseases, and critical care. Dr. El-Gendy has a special interest in asthma, COPD, lung cancer, and sleep disorders. He then completed a fellowship in pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine at the Medical College of Pennsylvania and Hahnemann University. During his residency and fellowship, he rotated through the East Orange and Philadelphia Veterans Administration Hospitals. 

Upon the completion of his fellowship, he served as an assistant professor of medicine at the Medical College of Pennsylvania and Hahnemann University. Subsequently, he became the director of the ICU at the Medical College of Pennsylvania.
