Immediately after that fellowship, she continued her training in interventional cardiology at The Houston Methodist DeBakey Heart and Vascular Center. This fellowship was completed in June 2001.

Dr. Fernandes is a kind and compassionate doctor who treats each patient with patience and understanding. She counsels her patients on living a healthy lifestyle and coaches them on how to make good choices for their wellbeing. “No two patients are the same,” said Dr. Fernandes, “I treat each patient as an individual. I take the time to get to know my patients and their lifestyle, which assists me in making a more accurate diagnosis and treatment strategy.” She is focused on serving the cardiac needs of adult patients of all ages, advancing great cardiovascular health, and meeting the individual objectives of every patient.

The team at Dr. Fernandes’s office is committed to creating a positive experience from the principal office visit, to the analysis and technique and development. In addition to English, Dr. Fernandes and her team can accommodate patients who speak Spanish and Portuguese.

Dr. Fernandes is very active in hospital and physician affairs in The Woodlands and Conroe area. She currently has hospital appointments at Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital, Houston Methodist Hospital Medical Center, Memorial Hermann Woodlands Hospital, Conroe Regional Medical Center, and CHI St. Luke’s Health – The Woodlands Hospital. 

Andres Ruiz, MD, FACC, is a top-ranked, board-certified cardiologist providing state-of-the-art care at South Palm Cardiovascular Associates. He serves patients in Delray Beach, Florida, offering each patient individualized care and attention customized for their specific medical needs and lifestyles. 

As a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Dr. Ruiz has extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of heart diseases and related conditions, including heart attack, atrial fibrillation, heart failure, heart murmur, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and pulmonary hypertension. He uses stress testing, echocardiography, angiography, and other advanced techniques to assess patients and manage their care. 

In addition to treating patients with existing diseases, Dr. Ruiz is also skilled in helping patients prevent cardiovascular disease through patient education and interventional approaches aimed at reducing the risks of disease.

Dr. Ruiz completed his medical degree at the Health and Science Institute (CES) in Medellin, Colombia, followed by a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the Medical College of Georgia. He then completed another residency in interventional cardiovascular disease at Loyola University. In addition, he has been the recipient of several medical awards and has been widely published in peer-reviewed medical journals.
