From the moment she received her first play doctor kit, Dr. Megan Usher was destined for a career in medicine. Her early fascination with science carried her through an academically rich journey in high school and culminated in a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Washington in Seattle. During her pre-medical studies, Dr. Usher discovered her affinity for natural medicine, resonating deeply with the naturopathic philosophy of holistic care and preventive wellness. She pursued this calling at Bastyr University, renowned for its accredited naturopathic program.
As a licensed Naturopathic Physician in Oregon, Dr. Usher has found her niche in Pediatrics. She dedicates herself to her young patients, offering comprehensive care from routine preventive check-ups to managing illnesses and ongoing conditions. Her scope of pediatric services encompasses well child exams, along with the management of common issues like earaches, skin conditions, and allergies.
In her practice, Dr. Usher advocates for natural healing modalities, primarily utilizing nutritional therapies, botanical medicine, and homeopathy. She places a strong emphasis on diet and lifestyle adjustments to bolster health. Her philosophy is to educate, empower, and support her patients in achieving and maintaining optimal health through sustainable, healthy lifestyle choices.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Usher's life is filled with joy from playing with her daughters to embracing the great outdoors through running, hiking, and snowboarding. She also finds solace in culinary adventures and tending to her garden. Dr. Megan Usher is currently welcoming new patients to embark on a journey to holistic health and well-being.

Her medical education included multiple rotations focusing on women’s health and gastroenterology. She is passionate about finding the root cause to an individual’s health concerns and utilizing multiple modalities that are tailored to each individual’s needs. Her areas of interest include women’s health, nutrition counseling, gastroenterology and Lyme disease. When she’s not in clinic helping patients, you can find her at home baking or spending time with her boyfriend and Siberian huskies.
My name is Ksenia (silent “K”) Malarkey. I am a Naturopathic Doctor at Zen Attitude Acupuncture, in Seattle, Washington. I received my Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University and completed a two-year residency at AIMS Institute in Seattle with a focus on chronic disease, therapeutic injections, and psychotherapy.
I grew up in St. Petersburg, Russia and from a young age was taught to view health through the lens of our environment. My summers were spent foraging mushrooms, berries, and herbs under the guidance of my grandmother. Her teachings laid the foundation for my belief in the importance of holistic care and “vis medicatrix naturae” (the healing power of nature). My clinical practice combines these beliefs with evidenced-based research to develop treatment plans that are transformative and provide lasting change.
I passionately believe in treating the patient as a whole person. Disease and dysfunction can negatively impact your entire world and, inversely, the world can negatively impact your health. When striving for optimal health and well-being, we must take into account the physiological, psychological, cultural, and spiritual aspects of your life.
My clinical interests include hormone balancing (hormone replacement therapy and BHRT), chronic and autoimmune disease, digestive health, and pain management. I draw upon a wide array of diagnostic tools to identify the root problems holding people back from living the life they want. I pride myself in creating strong partnerships with my patients to deeply explore and address challenging health issues.
In my spare time, I can be found exploring a new trail, a new country, or spending time with my partner and our pets (cat, Leonard, and dog, Parsley)
I look forward to meeting you!

My journey to medicine began in early 2010 after walking away virtually unscathed from a serious car accident. This profound experience encouraged me to take a closer look at how I was living my life and ultimately led to sobriety through a program of recovery. While this was the most important change I needed to make for my health at that time, I quickly realized it really had nothing to do with alcohol in the bigger picture. In good times or bad, the alcohol was just a symptom for the unhappiness with my spiritual, mental, and physical condition at that time.
Once I was more firmly rooted in recovery, I was ready to look closely at these aspects of my life. I began to focus on areas of need such as nutrition, sleep, movement, self-care, spirituality, and more. Simple concepts but not always easy to incorporate in our lives for a variety of reasons. Change is not easy, and I’ve been there time and time again.
This shift launched me towards a greater calling in how I could share my experience, strength, and hope with others. There was a desire to be a catalyst for change and help others take advantage of those moments of synchronicity just as others helped me. Truthfully, I stumbled across naturopathic medicine by accident, but I’m not so sure there are coincidences in life anymore. Once at school, personal and professional experiences ultimately led me to acupuncture and Chinese medicine as well.
I love to teach and empower my patients so they feel more confident in taking control of their health. And I always incorporate the nervous system and discussions around the mind-body connection. This is critical because if we always feel like we’re running from a bear, or our body is operating that way without us knowing, we will always be out of balance. From a Chinese medicine perspective, our Yin and Yang will be out of balance. Whichever lens we’re using, we certainly won’t be in a state to promote healing.
I enjoy working and supporting most health conditions especially when it comes to acupuncture. I am particularly passionate about treating mental health concerns, insomnia, chronic pain, digestive issues, and reproductive health. For the last year, I have been focusing primarily on fertility support whether it’s natural conception, IUI, or IVF.
I completed my training at Bastyr University in the greater Seattle area and earned a Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine (ND) and Master of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MSAOM). Additionally, I am Board Certified in Biofeedback and completed additional training in TCM Psychiatry and Yin Yoga instruction. I am currently studying for the ABORM certification which is the professional designation for acupuncture and traditional Chinese reproductive medicine.
