About Dr. Lane Peterson, DO

Lane Peterson, D.O. offers an array of treatment options for numerous pain conditions at Florida Pain Medicine locations in Zephyrhills, Wesley Chapel, and Brandon, Florida. Dr. Peterson is double board-certified in Interventional Pain Medicine and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation by the American Board of PM&R. Since 2008, he has specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal and neurological pain of the head and face, spine, pelvis, and limbs. He performs interventional pain treatment procedures including epidurals, facet joint/medial branch blocks, radiofrequency ablation, sympathetic nerve blocks, neurostimulator implantations, and peripheral musculoskeletal and nerve blocks.

Dr. Peterson understands that each person who seeks treatment from him has a unique pain experience and history. He believes that a successful outcome starts with empathetic listening, thorough investigation, establishing an accurate diagnosis, and crafting an individualized plan for treatment. He utilizes a multi-factorial approach to treatment which aims to identify and address the underlying issues which led to the development of pain and to break the vicious circle of pain at as many points as possible.

Dr. Peterson graduated with honors from the University of Iowa with bachelor’s degrees in Biological Sciences and Physics. He then earned his medical degree at Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Peterson credits his foundational training in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine for developing his sensitive palpatory diagnostic skills which he uses to locate the source of pain.

Following medical school, Dr. Peterson lived in Miami, Florida for a year, where he completed a traditional osteopathic rotating internship at Westchester General Hospital. He completed his residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Georgetown University Hospital/National Rehabilitation Hospital program in Washington, DC. While he was there, his training sites included the National Institutes of Health and Walter Reed Army Hospital, where he felt humbled to be able to care for soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Dr. Peterson completed his American Council of Graduate Medical Education-accredited Pain Medicine fellowship training at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System in Richmond, Virginia. Following this, he joined the teaching faculty as an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, teaching fellows and residents while working at the Hunter Homes McGuire Veterans Administration Medical Center. He later practiced medicine in Overland Park, Kansas before recently relocating to Tampa.

In his spare time, Dr. Peterson enjoys spending time with his family, singing karaoke, and tinkering with electronics and computers.

“The wait time in the office was long but once I was seen I was very pleased with my time with Dr Peterson. Explained in great detail the procedure that was done to me He even got a model of a spine to show exactly what and where everything was done. Treated the site then told me what to expect during my recovery from the MILD procedure. Left the office happy that all my questions were answered. I am very comfortable with him. Never rushes me out to see his next patient. Gives me all the time I need Would highly recommend him. ”

About Dr. Seth Kaufman, DO

South Florida Interventional Orthopedics and Spine has one office in Davenport, Florida, and another in Miami. Led by double board-certified physical medicine and rehabilitation physician Seth Kaufman, DO, he and his team focus on using conservative treatments to help their patients avoid surgery unless it’s absolutely necessary. The practice provides the local communities with accurate diagnosis and high-quality treatment.

Dr. Kaufman believes that a physiatrist (a doctor who specializes in medical solutions to musculoskeletal disorders) is the best person for patients to see before consulting an orthopedic surgeon. As he says, when patients have chest pain, they don’t go to a cardiothoracic surgeon but a cardiologist.

Similarly, a patient with a headache would visit a neurologist rather than a neurosurgeon, while a person with stomach pain would go to a gastroenterologist before calling on a colorectal surgeon. Using this logic, it makes sense for patients to first see Dr. Kaufman for their neck, back, or sports injury pain before seeing an orthopedic surgeon.

Patients can be confident of the highest quality treatment. Dr. Kaufman has extensive experience and has undergone fellowship training.

He has also worked extensively with some of the most highly trained spine surgeons in the world. Those surgeons included staff members at the Mayo Clinic (which has campuses in Rochester, Minnesota; Jacksonville, Florida; and Scottsdale and Phoenix, Arizona), Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, and Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.

South Florida Interventional Orthopedics and Spine specializes in the nonoperative treatment of neck, lower back, and musculoskeletal pain. They use nonsurgical techniques to treat arthritis, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, sciatica, as well as neck, back, shoulder, hip, and knee pain.

Treatments include epidural steroid injections, facet blocks, hyaluronic acid injections, rhizotomy (radiofrequency ablation), and precision medicine treatments like PRP (platelet-rich plasma). On the rare occasions that these treatments don’t work, Dr. Kaufman refers patients to the appropriate specialists.

South Florida Interventional Orthopedics and Spine is firmly committed to a patient-centered, conservative approach to treating musculoskeletal disorders. Call their Davenport or Miami office today or book an appointment online to benefit from their expertise.

About Dr. William Cole, DO

About Dr. William J Cole Jr., DO

Renowned Osteopathic Physiatrist William J Cole Jr., DO, has dedicated his medical career to helping people overcome pain and get back to their lives quickly. Patients from all over the country come to OrthoMed Pain & Sports Medicine, where Dr. Cole provides innovative care from offices in Sarasota and Venice, Florida.

Dr. Cole is the President, Founder, and CEO of OrthoMed® Pain & Sports Medicine, The "kNOwPAIN Institute®," The "kNOwPAIN Foundation®," Doctors Weight Loss NOW®, and proud father of "Dr. Mary Jane®" - "medical-grade CBD," which has replaced up to 50% of the narcotics formerly prescribed in the Certified Pain Clinics in southwest Florida.

Dr. Cole completed training at NYU Rusk Institute in 2004, just after a life-threatening motor vehicle accident deprived him of the use of his most valuable asset: his hands. He underwent the first of seven surgeries in 2000, then subsequently had a One-Level Cervical Decompression in 2013 with multiple regenerative treatments, resulting in a tremendous reduction in pain and increase in functional abilities. This was in lieu of a debilitating Four-Level Cervical Fusion with hardware and screws as recommended by traditional neurosurgeons that would have ended Dr. Cole's successful career in Conservative and Interventional Pain Medicine.

As a result, Dr. Cole changed his career path from Orthopedic Surgeon to Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Specialist, thereafter building a very successful outpatient-based multi-location Orthopedic Medicine group serving thousands of local, regional, national, and international clients with customized treatments of the highest quality care, resulting in exceptional outcomes and positively changed lives.

For the last 10 years, Dr. Cole has served as an Assistant Clinical Professor at LECOM/Bradenton, teaching all aspects of Conservative and Interventional Pain Management to build strong community and medical ties to our future classes of physicians, as Dr. Cole believes in giving back to the medical community.

While working with some of the most prominent Orthopedic Surgeons in the US, Dr. Cole has devoted his career to master and perfect the "minimally invasive interventional procedures" to "decrease pain and increase function without narcotics or surgery."

Dr. Cole and his lovely wife, Dr. Liliana Cole, raise their two children by example by serving the South Florida community through "The Know Pain Foundation®." The foundation assists patients in the treatment of severe or chronic illnesses for those who deserve but cannot afford quality healthcare.

Dr. Cole has pioneered multiple safe and effective non-surgical alternatives to surgery or narcotics such as "Dr. Mary Jane," a medical-grade CBD that yields safe and very effective reduction of not only muscle and joint pain, but also can reduce nerve pain, anxiety, glaucoma, ADD, GI, and other disorders as it resets the body into our tranquil "rest and digest" sense of well-being.

Dr. Cole specializes in a variety of trigger point injections, regenerative therapies, and advanced pure PRP treatments via fluoroscopic and ultrasound-guided interventions, with over 60,000 total procedures performed throughout his career. He has also achieved major medical innovations such as "The Sciatica Solution" via the "kNOw PAIN®" approach to diagnose and treat over 10,000 patients with difficult and elusive disorders for the past 15 years with outstanding results.

Dr. Cole even developed a 16 Component National Institute of Health verified IV Essential Vitamin and Mineral therapy to boost immunity, assist in respiratory function, and aid in infection prevention from multiple viruses and bacteria...naturally!

The "kNOw PAIN®" Diagnosis and Treatment System, combined with modern stem cell therapies, followed by "proactive prevention," will enable future doctors to "Have the Body Heal the Body," an absolute paradigm shift in healthcare! Dr. Cole's motto is to "FIND IT, and FIX IT," to get patients "Back to Their Lives Faster, More Fit, and More Functional" than our failed traditional medicine. The goal being exceptional health for Dr. Cole's and all patients today, tomorrow, and in the future.

Dr. Cole has come to the realization that "our patients deserve a better quality of life." He believes that "the future of medicine is to have the body heal the body" through "advanced regenerative technologies" and "replace the drugs in every medicine cabinet in America" with safe, effective, affordable, non-narcotic, and non-addictive medications, such as the "Dr. Mary Jane" - medical-grade CBD. Non-traditional innovators like Dr. Cole are leading the charge into the future of healthcare for Americans, for this great country, and to "Make America Healthy Again!"

“Very Brilliant Doctor who specializes in Stem Cell Therapy for the Knee. Definitely took time for me (1 Hour) to explain everything. Sometimes a bit too techinal as I didn't really understand everything he was saying. I will decide after second opinion whether I want to go with his suggestion. Well versed in other specialities, too. Very Impressive Credentials in varying fields. I would recommend him to people with fairly serious knee issues. Doesn't want to operate if possible.”
