I am a Nashville native and a nationally board-certified athletic trainer since 1999. After serving in the secondary setting and then operating a national American Heart Association training center, I joined MPower as manager of their sports medicine department. When I am not working, I’m thinking about my next 4th of July fireworks show because I bring the BOOM to the neighborhood.

My greatest successes are my children followed by the professional relationships I have been privileged to have in my career that turned into friendships. David Drez Jr., M.D., Senior Advisor at Center for Orthopaedics, is originally from DeQuincy, Louisiana, and earned his undergraduate and Medical Degree from Tulane University. He completed a residency in general surgery and in orthopaedic surgery at Charity Hospital in New Orleans – Tulane Service. Dr. Drez published a large body of research that focused primarily on athletic injuries and their prevention and treatment options, particularly injuries of the knee and shoulder. He is a co-author of Orthopedic Sports Medicine, the highly acclaimed guidebook for sports medicine physicians, physical therapists and athletic trainers; and was co-editor of Operative Techniques in Sports Medicine.
He served as a clinical professor of orthopaedics at LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans and a clinical assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. In recognition of his contributions to the education of orthopaedists, the “Dr. David Drez Chair in Orthopedic Sports Medicine” was dedicated at LSU in New Orleans in 2006. Dr. Drez served as a team physician at McNeese State University for 37 years and was inducted into the McNeese State University Hall of Fame. The rehabilitation area of the university’s Sports Medicine Center was also named the “David Drez Jr., MD, Rehabilitation Facility.” In 2017, Dr. Drez received the Jack Weakley Award of Distinction from the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), which is given to honor one individual each year for a lifetime of outstanding contributions that directly impact health care in the area of athletics, athletic training, or sports medicine and are of major and lasting importance.
Dr. Drez was one of the five founding members of Center for Orthopaedics in 1994 and was a member of the group’s medical staff for 13 years. He returned to the group in 2011. He currently serves as a senior advisor to the practicing physicians.

Daniel Emerson, MD, is a skilled orthopaedic surgeon practicing at Orthopaedic Associates, Inc, which has locations in Henderson, Kentucky, and Newburgh and Evansville, Indiana. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and has multiple orthopaedic interests, including trauma, adult reconstruction (total joint replacement), shoulder and knee surgery, and general orthopaedics.
Dr. Emerson’s special area of expertise is sports medicine, as he obtained the ABOS Subspecialty Certification in Sports Medicine in November 2010. A common but complicated sports injury that he treats is ACL tears and subsequent reconstruction. Dealing with a very active population during his nine years in the military gave him the opportunity to perform hundreds of ACL reconstructions, perfecting the latest advances in surgical management, including anatomic graft placement using the anteromedial portal and double bundle through a single tunnel.
Other special interests of Dr. Emerson include all aspects of workman’s comp injuries and treatments, including causation, return-to-work, permanent impairments, depositions, and independent medical examinations. His particular surgical interests and expertise include managing carpal tunnel syndrome, knee replacement, anterior hip replacement, anatomic and reverse total shoulder replacement, and all aspects of shoulder and knee arthroscopy.

His final four years in the Army were spent at Fort Benning, Georgia, completing a tour of duty in Iraq in 2008 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and acting as Chief and General Staff of Orthopaedics at Martin Army Community Hospital.
Dr. Emerson is a former NCAA All-American wrestler and is very excited and humbled to be back in our local community and have the opportunity to care for the region’s athletes and local citizens. When not taking care of patients, he enjoys corralling his four children, spending time with his wife and family, traveling, reading, playing guitar and piano, and being outdoors. Dr. Emerson and his wife are a part of the local running community and completed multiple marathons and half-marathons together.
